I think that the way the NBA is designed is to keep team like the Knicks down. One thing I must say though if it takes getting rid of everyone who is on the team now in order to get a real superstar, we must do it now. Because without that main man you are almost doomed. Without Kobe the lakers would have won nothing. Phil Jackson is a great coach and I don't want to take that away from him. The only way he would be deemed the greatest coach of all time is to get a team like the Knicks and build it and win a title. he would then be the greatest coach of all times.
The knicks are where they are because isiah thomas put them there. did the league tell him to pick up stephon marbury, anfernee hardawy, jamal crawford, jalen rose, steve francis, eddy curry, zach randolph, jared jeffries, etc? i think not.

The Knicks were in trouble way before that! There is enough to blame everyone starting with giving Huston 100 mil Trading Ewing for nothing. Hey lets be real. Isiah tried to win now and it backfired on him. I'll be the 1st to say Isaih messed up big time. They should have setteled that law suit with that Lady.With Marbs it goes to show you that it takes more than just talent. It takes brains and Marbs was lacking in that. Nate have talent but his attitude will cost him millions and maybe an early exit from the NBA Some guys are just stupid and dumb.
The Knicks did MUCH worse than trading him for nothing. They traded him for overpaid Glen Rice on the rapid decline, and a washed up Longley that eventually became overpaid Eisley, Shandon, etc. etc. If they let him expire, they would have been better off with the cap space.
We were bad before Isiah Thomas, but not THAT bad. This much is obvious in the fact that Donnie Walsh mostly cleared our cap situation in some 7 months, the same miserable situation he inherited from IT, which was MUCH worse than what IT inherited.
So let's be real. Had someone of DW's caliber stepped in after Layden, we might be looking back at a championship by now.
