I'll tell you what, last year was a disaster for Iverson, but 2 yrs ago was one of his best seasons in the league IMO. His FG% was way up, his turnovers were down- I mean we are talking about a player who is not far removed from 26 ppg, 7 apg, 2 spg and 46% FG. That is still an NBA superstar.
Getting him for 1 year at a mid-level exception price is really tempting.
it's tempting but what does it accomplish?
Perhaps it adds a few wins. But perhaps it takes away from the development of so many young players that need shots. Perhaps it also takes away from building a team concept.
Exactly. Let's forget about that pick. It's just more focus on the knucklehead who put us in this position. We should concentrate on developing our long term talent (Gallo, The Mayor, Hill, Douglas) and sign a point guard who can grow with the unit. Get them all max minutes, build team cohesion, build trust, and move on. An AI rental for a year will be entertaiing, especially if he returns to form (I am no hater, I recognize he is one of the best scorers EVER) but it's time to get serious about the plan.
I am not opposed to AI for a one year rental, but I think it HAS to be a last resort. I wouldn't pull the trigger on that deal until Sessions is gone and Rubio returns to being a pipe dream.
