It's funny how certain players become tradeable when Rubio's name is mentioned.

To me, the ideal situation would be to keep Hill and Chandler and include Lee and/or Nate in the deal. Its so unlikely we will keep either since we won't add salary to 2010 and if they come back for one year deals, they could veto any trade, which could set things up to lose them for nothing next offseason. If there was a way, that would be a great way to get a young player with lots of potential and on a cheap rookie deal.

Wouldn't give up Chandler for Rubio??????

That's like not wanting to give up an avg offensive lineman for a potentially elite QB.

Any deal would probably have to include Hill, a future first, and cash, at a minimum; I Chandler isn't part of the deal, he's the kind of player that could thrive with a top PG feeding him.

After seeing Hill in the SL, I would trade him. No Problem.

Maybe this is why Donnie is being so cautious this summer?

They don't need Hill, but I have to somewhat agree with you. I like him, but I would have taken a chance on Jennings.

Anyway, the thing we have to consider is that Walsh and Kahn go way back and it's very possible, albeit not likely, that they even had a deal in place before the draft. But if two teams/GM's are going to work out a deal you think that Kahn would be more than fair with Walsh for the obvious reasons not to mention he is not looking very good around the league after the draft in many peoples minds.

Walsh has been very cautious but that is also his nature. I just can't imagine Rubio being a star in Minnesota, he just has NY written all over him...

Rubio, Brewer and Cardinal to the Knicks
Mobley, the 2012 pick, and the Mayor to the Grizz?

Nothing there that really stands out as a match unless the Grizz want to give a middle finger to their fans. Maybe a Nate S&T could be involved?

What do the Grizz have to do with this?

My bad, Grizz, Wolves... might as well be the same franchise
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What are the rules around trades with unsigned rookies? How do salaries come into play in this scenario?

Cleveland reportedly in trade negotiations regarding the Knicks!

The Cavs--knowing that Lebron will bolt for NY after the season--seized the opportunity to grab back assets and will acquire Wilson Chandler Danillo Gallinari Al Harrington and Jordan Hill for James. The deal should be completed by Sept 2019

He was supposed to sign the deal to play overseas but I think that was Fegan's work. Kahn had no choice but to trade him and get assets in return because he traded away 2 nice assets just to get the 5th pick. He can't start the season empty handed with nothing to show for Rubio. Plus each day that passes....Rubios value gets lower and lower. Kahn has pretty much painted himself into a corner. The knicks may trade Douglas and something for Rubio but Hill and Chandler are not going anywhere. Trust that!!!

I love Chandler, but I would give him to Minny for Rubio in a heartbeat. It is MUCH easier for us to find another wingman at the 3 spot than to find a (potentially) perfect fit PG to play in MDAs system. Sessions would fit the bill, but has cap implications. Rubio would be a rookie and has at least equivalent upside. He's also has hella good court vision, the likes of which doesn't come around that often. He can shoot pretty good (and that will improve over time) and his amazing instincts make him a great ball hawk. He's only 18, so his on-ball defense will also improve, although that's not emphasized in the MDA system. Lastly, he would be a HUGE attraction to NYC fans AND to potential 2010-11 FAs.

I have been praying to the hoop gods daily for a Rubio deal. Every time I refresh RealGM I announce the "Rubio to NY in blockbuster" headline hoping it will appear. I did a double-take this morning when I saw the speculations.

Still, it's WAY too speculative at this point given our weak trading chips. The Mayor is all we really have to offer that is big value. If only N8 were more popular among NBA players he might be attractive. The TWs are stocked at the 4, but what about center? Who plays under the hoop for them?

Isn't there still an issue of a buyout with Rubio? I've never seen the guy play, only read the hype, so I have no idea who it is worth trading for him.

One thing I do know - "Slow knicks news day" + "Rubio Rumor" = "At least a week of Rubio Discussons on UK"

https:// It's not so hard.

and thank god for it. our only other choices are daily reports on allanfan's battle of the bulge, tms' class action suit against the alba tournament and continued contributions to the "how to make nice so a cop won’t; crack your coconut" thread.

2010 scenerio is breakin my balls.

His buyout is only being positioned as "impossible" because he is trying to leverage a deal to NY.

If he's dealt to the Knicks - his buyout would get completed (Rubio would take the short-term financial hit) and eventually he'd make up lost $ via endorsement deals, etc.

Word. Buyout is a non-issue for NY. It's a negotiating ploy for RR and his agent. I excpect if there is no trade, he will honor his new contract in Spain. He has no desire to play in Minny, and not just because of basketball stuff. GO DONNIE GO!

He's buy out is astronomical(6mil???)...thats why its impossible. Nba teams are only allowed to contribute less than a million(forgot the exact number)...people are saying Nike would foot the bill or Rubio would just use the endorsement deal to get out of the contract...but damn....all of that just to play in the NBA???

I'd like to see the Kid in the nba...but its getting incredibly frustrating to hear all these point guards linked to the Knicks and nobody is here yet.
