coming from the guy that said teams should seriously consider drafting Darko over Lebron.

This magic cap drop isnt going to happen. Its fodder because of the upcoming CBA is going to expire.

Seems to me the plan is going just fine:
Have we lost Lee and Nate for nothing? NO
Are we well coached? YES
Winning more games? YES
Have more young talented players? YES

Also our prospects for trading Curry and JJ are good. From another thread:
Cuttino Mobley’s contract, 80% of which is covered by insurance, gives the Knicks a valuable trade chip the team can use to remove more salary from the 2010 ledger. Consider that the payout of $7.6 million of insurance for Mobley’s contract would more than offset Jeffries’ $6.9 million salary in 2010, and the Knicks could throw in an additional $3 million in the trade. The Knicks can make taking Jeffries' contract off their hands very affordable for another club.
Some cash strapped team isnt going to walk away from a chance to save $3.5mm. That pays the entire coaching staff for half half the NBA's franchises.

Also Curry will be ready to play and will be as productive as he's been through his career. When he's putting up 14/5 on 55% a GM will take a shot on him because he's 6'11 and 26 years old.

Funny thing about Walsh's 2.5 year plan.. its going to take 2.5 years to work.

Good post Fish. Absolutely agree with you about the Cap. The Players Association just isn't going to let it dive as much as people are claiming it will. That's going to mess with their money and the players association NEVER let's anything mess with their money.

This is exactly what I have been saying all along but some people want to give walsh all sorts of praises, as if he has lebron wade and bosh sweating to be knicks.

This is exactly why Isaiah said fck it I might as well stock talent . Its so hard to get reasonable contracts, I like walsh's patience and vision, but things are quickly changing and options are narrowing, I just hope he can adjust.

IMO walsh had to by pass the sac deal we were already rail thin at the guard postion and jeff was our are primary big (wow) man, guess he thought he could revisit it down the line.

My biggest beef with walsh has always been " Does he have an alternate plan" and if a had to take guess the answer would MAYBE.

When you start relying on 2 young guys to take massive leaps in order to make us look attractive, Your in trouble.

Playing hard ball with nate, lee, and sessions may come back to haunt you, cause those may be your most attractive piece's and should be the ones your relying on to make the leaps and bounds.

cap is a calculated # agreed upon under the current CBA. the player's association can't do anything about it. it's a point they will have to negotiate in 2011 during the lockout.

That's my point DJ. It won't get to the cap lowering.

GREAT POST FISH. ANOTHER funny thing is how he compares him to dale davis, a player in which the only thing they have in common is their race and size. Hill can shoot, he is quicker, and actually has moves. Dale davis couldn't shoot a lick, didn't have moves and his go to shot was the rebound and put back dunk... folks are funny, they don't want you to compare hill to amare(best case scenario) but they are quick to compare him to a much lesser case scenario( dale davis).. go figure..

and when did brook lopez become a Potential star... LOL.. wow..

I'm sorry MS but you're way off on Hill! He's nothing like Davis, who was a more physical defensive player and Rebounder. Hill is almost exactly as athletic and long as Amare. He may not have shown that in SL but both had almost the same stats at the combine. Thing is Hill has a good face up game already, which works great in MDA's system. Let him develop and I'm sure you'll see his skills.

LOL Isiah stocked talent?
Like who? Jalen, Marbury, MoT, Francis, Q and Jerome?
Great assets! I still love how those expiring contracts were supposed to bring back great
value at the deadline, and then they went and bought them out instead.
Idiots who liked the MoT trade man up!

Did you watch summer league. Dale Davis is right on par with what hill is an energy player that does some dirty work. His hops are somewhat limited and he was a disaster on defense. He is just repeating what most people are saying about the past two drafts. The knicks blew a tremendous chance to really add game changing talent. Gallo still deserves time, but right now he has back issues at a young age.

Walsh ****ed up big time by not doing the Nate Robinson deal. If we resign the guy and can't move jefferies thats 11 million extra on the cap.

Since Washington doesn't have the cap room anytime soon hopefully he can do a Mike James for Jefferies swap to give the Wizards some added depth and defense. Thats a realistic move that helps them this season. And I don't need Larry Hughes on the court nor do I know why walsh made that move if we can package hughes and mobley for McGrady midway through the season even if the guy never suits up, I would do it. We don't need veterans taking up minutes.

Interestingly, Walsh passed on a chance to move Jeffries to the Kings for the expiring contract of Kenny Thomas at the trade deadline last February. That could really come back to haunt the Knicks.

If this is true than Walsh really messed up.

#1 Hill is nothing like Dale Davis.
#2 If Hill turns out like the rugged, hard nosed, rebounding, shot blocking, defender that Dale Davis was in Indiana I would be 100% okay with that. Not everyone can be a star.

I watched summer league, I'm guessing you didn't. I'm not falling all over myself about Jordan Hill but comparing him to Dale Davis is asinine. There are ZERO similiarities between the two, none. Hill is more like the new-age big man in this game whose game is based on speed, quickness and athleticism while Dale Davis is more of the rugged old school big man type. There are ZERO similarities.

Whether you think Jordan Hill is Wilt Chamberlain or Jerome James becomes irrelevant when you make a comment like "His hops are somewhat limited". His hops are the last thing that you would consider a problem.
