I will do what I do every year with Eddie when we hear glowing reports about his workout regime..........I will believe it when I see it

This.

I'll never forget the story about Tim Thomas' boxing regimen that was supposedly going to take his game to the next level. He was just so focused and prepared to have the best season of his career!

All these PR pieces need to be taken with a grain of salt, but given Curry's situation and our expectations I cant help but feel slightly encouraged. This certainly isnt bad news, so far.

lol, I remember that. That was pretty funny, especially since we all knew what kind of player TT was/is.
That TT stuff was during one of the funnier times on this board. Guys were guaranteeing a 20 and 10 year because TT was taking boxing lessons. Some of the arguments were hilarious....... As for Eddie I'm in the same boat as Eddie. What we are hearing is far better than hearing all the stuff we heard last year, and seeing him go through all the negativity he went through last year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but this is Eddie.....

Yeah, all that cuz K-Mart punked him and called him Fugazy.

The goal should be to get him where he was just 2 years ago when on April 7 2007 he scored 43 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in 40+ minutes. He was 24 then--26 now and MORE than young enough to work hard to get into the same shape[as long as his heart really is OK] as he was jusy a short time ago. whatever he weighed then--is what he should weigh now. The S+C coach should have some kind of log of body weight per month etc.. so he should be responsible to know where EC was in terms of weight/body fat etc... I think we can agree that there is relatively little difference in your body in your mid 20's--he should easily gte back there--he should want to get back there because if gets back there and is able to put up the same 20-7 and keep his weight as is--he will get another big contract--is losing the eight worth 40-50mm$? Can you imagine if someone said to you lose 30 pounds and Ill put 40-50$ on your doorstep? He cant be that stupid?

It's all on Eddie. I actually think intellectually Eddie understands what a good year will do for his wallet. I also think he understands that he is playing for his next contract. But can he motivate himself? Lot of workers in the world that have talent to go far, but just cant' get themselves to put in the extra effort.
I just hope that people will like me

YES!!! By October, Curry will look like Dwight Howard!!

I am glad to hear Curry has been working out, like he supposedly has for the past 3 years.

I will believe it, when I see it.

If he really comes back and contributes do you think he should still be dumped?

I guess his history and the salary he would clear up is a good argument to get rid of him.

IF he does get in decent shape - as Briggs pointed out - something in the order of what he was two years ago, then play him a while and let other gm's see what he can do against there teams. I do want to lose this guy even if he does get in shape, but I'd like to get more than an expiring contract.

I was 185 and lost 25 pounds in 2 month playing tennis. It's 15%
Eddy was 348 and lost 30 pounds in 4 month with 2 special trainers. It's 8%.
Not really impressive result...

It's impressive when u factor in who we're talkin about. Eddy is an undisciplined giant who is predisposed to being large. He was meant to be BIG. He's not some wiry slim guy with a fast metabolism. He just happens to be playing a sport made for slim people. He's built more for the NFL. Still if he loses weight and really improves his aerobic conditioning he can help any team. YES he can play in this system! But he's got to be in shape.

Poor Eddie, NFL would chew up that "wanna be circus acrobat" and spit him out. I am having a very hard time thinking of a sport that would suit him well. I wanna say sumo wrestling but those guys are mean bastards, they'd rip him a new one. Probably something like curling would fit him better.

You were 185 and you actually wanted to lose 25 pounds? You must be either really short or really skinny.

160lbs is a middle weight in boxing...

here's an example of one...Mr Marvin Hagler...he was a strong mofo. Met him once...I was a kid but he was very nice to me.

remember when i said next year was about gallo? well november + december will be all about curry so they can dump him asap. i wonder if there's a gm willing to take that risk...

Can we trade him to FIU?

if curry puts up double doubles for the first month of the season, some gm will take him. bet on it.
if Curry puts up his career 14/6/55% some GM will take him. He's 26 with a two year deal. 6'11 guys that can score like that are the same as guys that throw 99 mph. Somewhere someone will take a shot on that

agreed

I'd argue that if Curry makes it back to that form and can sustain it, we probably shouldn't just dump him.

Even if we add Lebron, he needs help, and Curry, when he is on, can affect the other teams defense.

I mean, if you can put two guys out there that demand a double team - one on the perimeter, the other down low, then your going to have lots of wide open looks and easy baskets.

Part of my reasoning to keep him is I don't think we're getting any FA in 2010.

However, if we are able to trade him and get little back- ending contract, token second rounder, etc., I'll also be good with that since even if we don't get any FAs in 2010, we do need to be starting over, and I would certainly never extend Curry, no matter what kind of year he puts up.

The video of him at training camp made him look much heavier than he was two years ago. Losing ten more pounds helps, but my guess is he still has a ways to go. Now if he's putting on muscle in these workouts, he may be losing more fat than a ten pound reduction indicates. So his weight may not fully indicate how much weight he lost. We'll see in October.

I am 5'10" and 47 years old. Kind of average.
Now working to get 5-10 pounds of muscles. Feel to light at 160.

Professional tennis is not for skinny people any more. Look at the pros. Guys like 6'6" and 200-220 pounds.
Tennis is of course more intense that bbal but you need power and wingspan now to do any good.

Its a good thing we still have until October because if Eddie really does keep training right and eating correctly he will lost another 10-20 lbs. then he should be in decent shape. The problem is we always hear this stuff in the offseason about players getting in shape:

Remember the year Camby supposedly got big and he didnt?

So like most, I will hope for the best but believe it when I see it. He certainly has more than enough time right now to get into good shape.
