32-50. even isiah managed to not lose 50 his first season as coach.

All these point guards out there with stipulations attached to em Walsh is chasing and meanwhile Kyle Lowry is sitting at the very end of somebody's bench. Wtf is walsh thinking?

Lowry sitting at the end of someone's bench? Do you watch any games? Lowry is/was practically a 6th man on Houston.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

good thinking. The extra time off should help him better understand how his 68 win team got bounced by the Warriors in the first round

trust me it has. Lets just pray Mike spends his year off in 010 watching other teams play. It may help him develop some defensive drills where players put their hands up.

defensive drills?
Why did Raja Bell make the all NBA defensive team under MDA? How many made the team under Avery? No need to look it up... the answer is zero. Did Bell ever make the team under another coach? Yawn

Fail. He came out of college known basically for being a great defender. Defensive players are defensive players. Coaches make defensive players now? Raja Bell was one of the only ones on Phoenix.

oh.. why didnt he make the team when he played for those guys?

When MDA was a (poor) GM for 6 months who did he aquire? Kurt Thomas and Marcus Banks. I guess it was for the 3 point shooting?

Fail

So let me see if I understand:

Raja Bell was taught D by LB and Sloan early in his career. So he developed a strong defensive foundation before he got to D'Antoni. So even though D'Antoni is the worst defensive coach in the history of the world it didn't matter to Bell. Bell played great D anyway. D'Antoni had no effect.

Meanwhile here in NY none of the guys play good D. They are all awful. This has nothing to do with an early foundation but it's because D'Antoni doesn't know how to coach D.

I guess you can have it both ways. Seems like th eonly way D'antoni can effect someone's defense is in a negative way

this year is another throw away just to set ourselves up for 2010... anyone who deludes themselves into thinking playoffs is setting themselves up for disappointment just like last year.

naw, this isnt a throwaway year. Walsh is clearly trying to strike an equilibrium of making the playoffs while not sacrificing '10.

Last year was a throwaway year to rid ourselves of dead weight and assess what we have. We should at least compete for a spot this year.

Walsh was trying to compete for a spot last year too... we coulda made a run at the playoffs but decided to dump salary, but still the pieces Walsh went after were experienced veterans who could produce for us... it didn't happen, we're obviously way short on talent to make any kinda realistic run at any playoffs right now... if we lose Lee & Nate this offseason it'll be that much harder even... to think we have any serious shot at contention this year is just setting urself up for the same as u got last year IMO unless some major deal or aquisition is made to upgrade the roster before the season begins.

Well..it all depends what we have going into training camp, so we cant get too carried away.

If Gallo is everything he has been sold as being and if Hill can produce like a # 8 pick should, then we should have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Especially if we upgrade at PG and bring back Lee and Nate or trade them for something reasonable.

With Chandler improving and the like, I could see us grabbing between 35-42 wins, which would put is in the hunt.

You bring up guys he barely used as proof? I give up. Mike is just misunderstood. He preaches defense. Its just the players Colangelo and Thomas left him to work with were too stupid to understand. And Avery is a failure. A current career win% of over .700 is nothing. Having a team consistently finish in the top 10 defensively is for losers. He got upset one year so makin the finals the year before and winning almost 200 games in a little over 3 seasons is meaningless. We should all just focus on his one negative outcome. however if we were talking about a young white coach who had his resume people would be focused on his overall success

I think the ultimate sign that you lost an argument is when you start bringing up racism.
