Cosmic: Don't let the media steer your emotions. Just because two guys talk does not mean they are in negotiations. We've spoken with about 75% of the available PG's this summer. We've spoken to PG's in Europe starting last year. We've spoken to everyone. To me this makes sense for a team that had a problem at the point and needs to raise their talent level. To me, it's just wise to do your due diligence. Instead of sitting on your arse, conduct some interviews and maybe you do find the right guy.

But until we sign Tinsley or JWill it's a waste of time to get upset about it. It's like getting mad and punching a friend because you thought he might punch you in the face.

Why even consider such players though? Why? What's wrong with Toney Douglas other than he's clean, smart, efficient, hard working, a leader, skilled, eager to learn, eager to be coached, and twice as good as his scouting report? WHY?

I know what you're saying, Bip, and maybe this is a GWB pre-emptive strike in the event we actually do sign one of these knuckleheads, but why even consider them? TO DO WHAT!?

Now answer me this, please, for my sanity which I am rapidly losing amidst the "LETS SIGN IVERSON" threads I'm reading on various Knick forums.

You're still rebuilding. 2009 is a known throw away year. You're not making the playoffs. No washed up veteran will help you make the playoffs. No backup castaway regardless of age will help you make the playoffs.

You just drafted a young kid full of fire, desire, skill, smarts, and already a big time leader on the court.

Why....why on earth are you looking at Ramon Sessions, Allen Iverson, Jason Williams, Marcus Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, etc? WHY!?!?!

To do WHAT!?

Teach Toney Douglas what it feels like to sit on a bench in street clothes? Teach him how to try to be a fake hoodlum, shoot guns, drink excessively, smoke weed, and suck on the court chucking up 45 footers while laughing about it because you're being paid millions to be a ****ing idiot?

WHY!?

WHO DOES THIS!

I thought Donnie Walsh was doing a nice job cleaning up Isiah's frat boy mess. Now he's considering bringing back in the same type of players he so quickly had to part ways with?

What the hell is going on here!

So, I ask you, given this teams situation as I laid it out, do you REALLY look to sign Sessions who SUCKS, or Iverson/Jwill, etc who are idiotic washed up malcontents, when you have a solid young prospect in Toney Douglas, all in a season where if you're LUCKY you win 35 games?

Would you?

I wouldn't. And even though we haven't I'm FURIOUS at the idea that we're actually considering it.

Again, why get angry over something that hasn't happened. If I'm GM I interview everyone. I may find a diamond in the rough. I may find a guy that matured during his time off. I may find someone with loose lips who may give me some information from a conversation he had with anotehr team. My job as GM is to provide Mike with as many options as he can get. He can turn them all down, and we move on to the next guy.

I personally am with you and think it would be a horrible idea to sign JWill or Jamal. I am one of the pioneers(possibly the pioneer) on this site that spoke about the importance of culture change and why we need to stay away from guys like this, especially after all the nonsense with Isiah and Marbs. That being said, I have no intentions of walkign around angry about something that hasn't happened.

Why get angry? Eh, I dunno, that's just what I do. Damn Sicilian blood I suppose. Meanwhile, I really don't think it's due diligence to go knocking on the door of known malcontents that nobody else wants. Especially when your first order of business was to kick any known malcontents to the curb. I just don't understand the value in looking at crazy individuals whose game has long passed them by. They're not mentors. They're not leaders. They're morons who absolutely STINK on the court. And, again, you have a young kid with promise, and you're thinking of pushing him out of the rotation with a broken down moron of a veteran?

I....don't get it at all.

It's pissing me off just reading about it. It infuriates me when I see fellow fans embracing the idea!

That's where we're at.

kidd, hill, tinsley, iverson, jwill...

doesn't look like it's about "leadership" but more about d'antoni wanting a ready made nba player that can run the team.

besides, all the "leadership" should be coming from darko - he is an nba champion...

I know of no such thing. My entire family is off the wall insane. Both those still left and those long since buried. I might very well be leading the pack. Our blood just boils. It doesn't take much to get all worked up and bent out of shape.

I realized as I was dealing with all of Cosmics lunatic rantings that I never gave my input on Sessions. I'm okay with a Sessions signing. I agree with Cosmic that signing a JWill or Tinsley is just taking minutes from Douglas for no reason, I do not look at Sessions that way. First of all, Sessions has potential. Second of all signing him just makes it "game on" at the PG position. You now have two youngs with potential fighting it out with each other for the long-term possession of the PG position. That is not a bad thing.

or it could be another road more traveled scenario where the guy making the mega millions is given carte blanche to justify the contract

It could be......but that's up to the coach to make sure that doesn't happen. Judging by the treatment of Marbury I don't really see D'Antoni as a guy that places contract before team, but you never know. It's of course a possibility. That's one of the reasons why signing Sessions is a risk and no guarantee of success or failure.

I just want to say that this is absolutely ridiculous. Absolutely stupid. Amazingly stupid. Jason Williams is as good as dead at the NBA level.

I look at it this way, if the Knicks bring back Nate Robinson Douglas will not get playing time this year anyway. The only way I see Douglas playing is towards the very end of the season. There are not enough minutes to go around in the backcourt with Nate and Douglas.

If there is no signing of Sessions or Tinsley we are looking at.........
