For what Toronto gave up, this is a steal. I wanted the Knicks to draft him two years ago. This kid can score if given minutes. He would have lit up the league in MDA's system. I have to believe we could have put together a package to get him. Oh well, if Walsh gets Sessions then all will be forgiven.
In total agreement. I've been talking about this kid as a trade option for us ever since Don Nelson put him in his doghouse a couple of years ago. Ah what's the use man, I swear. I really don't understand what we're doing here. We all understand we have our big plan in place for 2010 (which very well might turn out to be as anticlimactic as you can get btw) and I thank Donnie for keeping 2010 in mind and continuing to put us in a position to possibly make a splash in free agency a year from now. OK, great. Terrific. But in the meantime, we could be doing such a better job of re-tooling on the fly by targeting young, inexpensive talent with potential to fill some holes here. Darko was actually a nice addition in these terms but we need to be doing much more. I mean how do you pass on Marcus Williams and not even inquire about Belinelli (hopefully they did, but who the hell knows what they're doing anymore)? I understand we're never getting Anthony Randolph or Stephen Curry from them but you mean to tell me we couldn't have offered a sign & trade using Nate and got back something like Belinelli and maybe even Brandan Wright? Come on. Nate would've been a much better haul for GS than Devean George. Devean George??? I didn't even know he was still in the league. Nate wouldn't have worked out in GS in that system? He's not a Don Nelson type of player? Maybe even explore something for David Lee with them. As of right now, we appear to have no intention of bringing back either guy anyway so why not push the envelope to make them available in S&T scenarios?? I mean we haven't heard a word on either guy for how long now? I suspect both Lee and Nate's agents are working the phones harder than Donnie when it comes to looking for S&T possibilities right now. Instead of re-tooling with Marcus Williams and Belinelli (that's a legit NBA backcourt right there in my book), we're talking about guys like Ramon Sessions (young & intriguing but too expensive - a full mid-level deal for this guy cuts right into our 2010 plan - IMO, Marcus Williams has just as much ability as Sessions, maybe more, he just needs a chance to prove it at the NBA level), a washed up Jamaal Tinsley and Morris Almond (good move inviting Almond in for SL - I was as curious about this guy as anyone here but sadly, he proved in Vegas that he's no NBA 2-guard, he just doesn't have the overall skills - last time I ever question Jerry Sloan on anything. Belinelli, by comparison, has infinitely better skills across the board). And speaking of us in need of a legit 2-guard, you mean to tell me we couldn't have invited AD Vassallo and/or KC Rivers to summer league?? That equally infurates me. Here are another 2 legit NBA off-guard prospects that have better skills than Morris Almond. I would've been all over both of these guys the second the draft was over.. We're asleep at the wheel again when it comes to this type of stuff. Very, very frustrating....
