This guy's #s are pretty bad. He can't rebound or pass, and it's not like he makes up for it with scoring or anything else.

Can't argue with you there but a lot of people think it had more to do with Nelson than with Bellinelli himself. I'm not saying that is true, but he didn't play much, has a great shot and being in GS has been a tough time for him (as others). I imagine many of us see Belly as just needing a change of scenery, small chance worth taking. But, perhaps Almond can do some of what Belly can for us. (The difference to me is that Belly can be a better team player).

For what Toronto gave up, this is a steal. I wanted the Knicks to draft him two years ago. This kid can score if given minutes. He would have lit up the league in MDA's system. I have to believe we could have put together a package to get him. Oh well, if Walsh gets Sessions then all will be forgiven.

didn't the knicks have a traded player's exception too?

it's these type of small moves that for some reason, knicks gm's, for some reason or another, just never seem to do.

Belli never really had a shot. European players want to play in Toronto which by some standards is a European city. Belli wanted out of GS for a long time. He's had some good games but he's not all that good at any particular thing including shooting wide open 3s. Maybe with a fresh atmosphere and an actual chance he will grow. I know one thing though - this keeps up and DJ will start typing with a European accent. That team just about qualifies for the Euroleague.

Belli can play. Never had a real shot. He is much more than a glorified kapono. He can handle, shoot and pass. Solid deal, especially for Devean george. this was a steal....

In total agreement. I've been talking about this kid as a trade option for us ever since Don Nelson put him in his doghouse a couple of years ago. Ah what's the use man, I swear. I really don't understand what we're doing here. We all understand we have our big plan in place for 2010 (which very well might turn out to be as anticlimactic as you can get btw) and I thank Donnie for keeping 2010 in mind and continuing to put us in a position to possibly make a splash in free agency a year from now. OK, great. Terrific. But in the meantime, we could be doing such a better job of re-tooling on the fly by targeting young, inexpensive talent with potential to fill some holes here. Darko was actually a nice addition in these terms but we need to be doing much more. I mean how do you pass on Marcus Williams and not even inquire about Belinelli (hopefully they did, but who the hell knows what they're doing anymore)? I understand we're never getting Anthony Randolph or Stephen Curry from them but you mean to tell me we couldn't have offered a sign & trade using Nate and got back something like Belinelli and maybe even Brandan Wright? Come on. Nate would've been a much better haul for GS than Devean George. Devean George??? I didn't even know he was still in the league. Nate wouldn't have worked out in GS in that system? He's not a Don Nelson type of player? Maybe even explore something for David Lee with them. As of right now, we appear to have no intention of bringing back either guy anyway so why not push the envelope to make them available in S&T scenarios?? I mean we haven't heard a word on either guy for how long now? I suspect both Lee and Nate's agents are working the phones harder than Donnie when it comes to looking for S&T possibilities right now. Instead of re-tooling with Marcus Williams and Belinelli (that's a legit NBA backcourt right there in my book), we're talking about guys like Ramon Sessions (young & intriguing but too expensive - a full mid-level deal for this guy cuts right into our 2010 plan - IMO, Marcus Williams has just as much ability as Sessions, maybe more, he just needs a chance to prove it at the NBA level), a washed up Jamaal Tinsley and Morris Almond (good move inviting Almond in for SL - I was as curious about this guy as anyone here but sadly, he proved in Vegas that he's no NBA 2-guard, he just doesn't have the overall skills - last time I ever question Jerry Sloan on anything. Belinelli, by comparison, has infinitely better skills across the board). And speaking of us in need of a legit 2-guard, you mean to tell me we couldn't have invited AD Vassallo and/or KC Rivers to summer league?? That equally infurates me. Here are another 2 legit NBA off-guard prospects that have better skills than Morris Almond. I would've been all over both of these guys the second the draft was over.. We're asleep at the wheel again when it comes to this type of stuff. Very, very frustrating....

George is a vet rotation/role player that expires next season and makes 1.2M. If that is what GS wanted, the Knicks have nothing comparable.

Just out of curiosity, based on comments in this thread like 'wah, can't DW make a move like this..sob...sob..sniffle', does this mean that Morris Almond is no longer the flavor of the day?

belinelli is due 1.54 this year on his rookie deal (w/ club options the next 2 seasons).

are we really using stats to judge him? really? if that's the case than gallo is bust and a half as he can't even play a 1/10th of a regular season.

We probably would had to give up a second round pick. I think he was worth it.

The recreation of the Toronto "Magic" continues

Bosh ~~ Howard
Barg ~~ Shard
Hedo ~~ Hedo
Beli ~~ Reddick
Jose ~~ Jameer
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

nah man...can't create the magic since dwight is a unique and dominating player on the defensive end and on the boards. and you're not going to see centers trying to guard shard. so it will be much different. probably not as successful tho...
