Sprewell only played a year in HS. Don't forget Crawford. He barely played a year or 2 in HS, correct?
Are you citing Crawford as an example that is supposed to give us hope or pessimism for Hill?

How about:
David Robinson,
Patrick Ewing
Dikembe Mutombo
?

Didn't they all start playing late?

Not saying that means anything. Just answering the question.
Personally, I'm not thrilled at the prospect of drafting somebody, "hoping they come along." I was not a fan of this pick, I can just pray it turns out ok.

It's a good sign that despite starting late Hill has made up for lost time. If he wasn't truly talented he couldn't have possibly made the gains he's made so far. He's got a couple of years to develop and hopefully he will. I mean really are they're any LOCKS to fully reach potential when it comes to the draft. Almost all but a few are risks. Glenn Big Dog Robinson, J.R. Rider, Joe Smith, Danny Manning, Adam Morrison etc.

Every draft is full of risk. The Knicks had Hill rated very high and they might be right about him.
