I like Almond - even though I've never seen him play - and I'll continue to like him, until the Knicks sign him. Then I'll make up a new nickname. "Almsuck"? No. That doesn't work. Let me think about it. I'll need to have something ready, just in case he's signed.

here you go:

our sweetest player since snickerdoodle.

I like it, but people might make the mistake of thinking we like him with a nickname like that. It's not nearly so creative, but I was thinking of "Almdung".

Almond ---> Nuts ---> Bust ---> Bukkake

nickname must include Bukkake

Almbust sounds pretty good to me.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Can Almond create his own shot at all (i.e. Allan Houston's dribble, dribble pull up 20 ft J)?

Probably not! At least with the same level of consistency.

But he does attack, so that leaves hope that he can dribble fairly well... in the D-League he got to the free throw line pretty frequently. Last night what surprised me was his lateral movement.. he defended fairly well.

Almond was always considered a better prospect than Roberson. Roberson just caught fire for a while and it impressed MDA. If Von Wafer had his stroke going he could just as easily be a Knick instead of Roberson. The point is that we need another REAL SG!!! That's why Almond was on the radar in the 1st place.

Just looking at his Draft Combine stats, he has good athletic ability. 31" no step vert 35.5" Max Vert ran a 3.19 sprint, which is actually pretty quick! He's got a 6'10" wingspan too. The guy just doesn't play with a high motor, but he's got it under the hood tho. H2O played like that too. He wasn't flyin all over the place dunking on people. I like his shot and I think he'll be a good reserve at the least. If he picks up the rest of his game that's a plus in my book. What did he cost us? NADA! Just like that we can add another 1st rd pick basically.

This is it for AllMine. He needs to step it up mentally. Remember, he played for Sloan, a tough coach but a fair coach. You play hard Sloan will get anything you have to offer and make it better. Think of how many garbage players excelled under Sloan. If you have the right attitude and motor and just a fringe NBA skill set - Sloan WILL make you serviceable or even very valuable. The fact that Almond rode the pine and fell out of favor and was pretty much cut from the team speaks volumes. Sloan is no Larry Clown. If you have something to offer Sloan will make use of it if you have the right attitude. Apparently...Almond did not.

As long as we have a roster spot I'd take a chance on him if he continues to look sharp the next four games. He certainly is NOT another Robersuck.
