I'm not being negative..and if you did a little research on billups he came into the league clueless about when to pass and when to shoot. He also had a very good pg in terrel brandon, and solid franchise players like kg to mold him. Unfortunately we have no one on this current roster that is a sure thing in any prospective. MDA system is a passing pg system! that's the point I'm making..

Marcus has DLeague athletic ability & an even lower level work ethic (pls he can't shoot)

He's a highly skilled PG--watch him today--no one has seen him in awhile. Then tell me what you think. Douglas should pound and get into him because of his speed and strength combination. Thats what they are saying--seems like he should put Marcus into the ground.

I saw Douglas play twice and they had a very simple offense which was let him shoot. He was the offense.

So his weakness as a distributer in college is gonna continue as he grows.

we are not expecting much from him this year. He might not even make the team (d league) or get off the bench.

I expect him to be a replacement for nate.

"Douglas 13-3-5"

Toney has already proved he is capable scorer. But how efficiently can he distribute the ball to others? Averaging 5 to 7 assists efficiently is my primary goal for him. To be our back up point guard he needs to demonstrate that he is a indeed a good decision maker and a good passer.

He's pg how is getting a pass for not setting up his team, even iverson had solid ast numbers. A pg then can't (even if he's a scoring pg) pass is not a real pg He's a combo guard. There a dime a dozen.

Lol. Theres no such thing as even Iverson. The guys a one-of-a-kind basketball talent, one of the best players of his or any generation and a first-ballot HOF.

Why then does Walsh want to put off going after Sessions until he sees Douglas in Summer League? Why has D'Antoni suggested that Toney may make his active rotation this year? Why would the Knicks pay $4 million for Toney Douglas if they expected him not to get off the bench?

Just because Toney played one way in college, doesn't mean he is capable of playing another way in the NBA.

My point exactly!!! We don't really know what we have. We got high apple pie in the sky hope!

We expect him to step it up and be a good distributer in the pro that he was not having to be in the college ranks. Ok, by me!!!!!

But it is my expectation he does not.

And that does not make him a bust if he needs time to grow into the role.

THis is a hell of a kid who can play. He need not be that all inclusive "point" to be effective. He is a NBA prospet for sure!

How do you get a shoot first guy in a pass first system, and project him to be a back up next to nate..I'm not oppose to having on the team in a diffirent role..but I'll wait to see him play before I pass true judge ment on him..all I'm saying is we need a real pg.. What happens when you got a line up of

Douglas
Nate
DG
Al
Curry.

Lol..

All Douglas really needs to accomplish this year is to be a better setup man that Nate. If he can do that, he deserves to be the backup pg. I like the kid. I think he will do alright as a backup pg. He will bring better defense, he is probably a better scorer than Duhon, and if he can pass better than Nate, we just upgraded our backup pg position.

Usually it takes 2 or 3 minutes of summer league play for folks to be down on a player. Saying that a player will not be able to do this or that on the court before they even have a chance to perform is somewhat pathetic.

Why not give a player some time, and I don't mean a few summer league games, before dismissing him.

only the Knicks would come out of a draft filled with numerous natural pg prosects with an undersized 2 they want to convert

He has actually looked very nice in terms of getting the ball to the people with open shots, and could easily have had about 6 assists if guys had made their open shots. He is also quicker with the ball than I expected.

Ooops. I should have made it clear that the 5-7 assists I was looking for would be in Summer League, where Toney should be getting starter's minutes.

Douglas looked excellent tonight. He was terrible shooting the ball but since that is his strength I won't worry. He can run the point, he was a men among boys out there in summerleague. Really brought composure to the team. 11 assists, 2 steals, 8 pts.
