5 years, 35 million should do it for Lee
4 years, 20 million should do it for Nate.

Both should be happy with those contracts since neither has a market and the Knicks should be happy to retain their services.

If they are smart, they should sign for 2 years with a 3rd year player option.

DLee - 3 years, 21 million (3rd year player option)
Nate - 3 years, 15 million (3rd year player option)

At the current state, they will not get what they want. Play themselves to the next level but make sure you get good money while trying to raise their value. They blowup in the next 2 years then they can get their money in the 3rd year.

Sucks to be him. His agent is a greedy moron. Representation is supposed to HELP the player first, not the agency.

I would have fired him already. Unless there is some sort of S&T scenario cooking that we don't know about.

100% agree. I believe Bartlestein put his own agenda before Lee's.

Given our cap situation, I don't think Walsh is going to commit 5 mil per year to Nate. I think he might do 1 yr at 5 mil or 3 yrs at 10 mil--basically what he offered Grant Hill.

Um, why shouldn't DW low ball Nate and Lee? What exactly is the downside for the Knicks organization? The market is the market fellas. If you can go get the money you want, by all means. Otherwise, prepare to be low balled.

Guess I wasn't too specific in the OP. I agree we should low ball them to a degree. But we also want them to be happy with what they got (given prevailing market conditions) because disgruntlement would be contagious when it comes to signing FA. Who would want to come play with a grumpy DLee who feels he got ripped?

The downside of not offering a decent contract is they take the QO and leave next summer netting us nothing.

If Lee takes the 3 year player option for the fourth he can literally secure a dea while still in the prime of his career.

Donnie should offer them each $100,000,000.

I believe that I used that joke last week.
I just hope that people will like me

His job is to get more than what the knicks are offering and build a market for his player.

We don't know what the knicks are offering now or what they offered last year that he turned down.

What nobody knew was the state of the ecnomy and the cap going forward.

Donnie is letting the market dictate lees value.

I'm not sure that we are getting the full story in the press. Unless David Lee's agent is an idiot, it seems he may be asking high prices for David, in an effort to persuade the Knicks to do a sign and trade deal the agent has another team interested in. I heard D'Antoni say some very nice things about David Lee recently. He felt Lee had upside from how he played last season. Plus if Jordon Hill is able to play Center, David Lee may be able to provide better defense if he can return to playing Power Forward in the future. Perhaps Lee has figured out, that he needs to do more than rebound and score on putting the ball back in. Maybe if he wants the big buck, he will begin focusing more on defense?
