Remember, rookie centers take time. Its about upside, not what he does the first month.

Might not even get off the bench.

To me Hill sounds a little like Marcus Camby....

To me, Hill sounds a bit like a taller Balkman. I don't know anything about him however.

I'd like to see Hill play before I form an opinion of him. I'll get my first chance tomorrow at 6pm.

nothing like balkman, other than the dreads. Hill can actually shoot the ball, and has a nice touch. He is a great athlete but also has skills, that when fully developed will make him a very good post player..

Well I think if you haven't seen Hill play the Balkman conclusion can be made. They both have tremendous motors and were both praised for their motors. In this case though the motor is a component of Hill's game whereas in Balkman's case his motor is his entire game

One guy is a 6'10" lottery pick the other guy was not projected to be drafted and is in the league because of his hustle.

NBA Comparison: Chris Bosh

"...nothing like balkman, other than the dreads."

tkf - I'm witchoo. Besides, if I'm going out on the "separated at birth" tip I'm shooting a lot higher, if for no other reason - just for kicks and giggles. Hold up...isn't Bosh lefthanded?

To me Hill is gonna need time to adjust to the NBA which will feature more guys his size and bigger than he's used to, but then all bigs face the same dilemma. He's got a very quick 1st step, which should eventually help him in our offense. With his athletic ability, which is nearly equal to that of Amare, he should be a force in this league eventually.

It does make you wonder tho, why a guy like Wilcox, who is also very similar can't seem to gain traction in the league. Whatever Wilcox's issue is it seems clear that the knicks don't feel he gives them what they want. The thing I like about Hill is that he's already showing a developing jumper. That's a HUGE key to success under MDA.

Balkman and Hill are like day and night. They are nothing alike. Hill has a post up game and can play with his back to the basket. On the other hand, Balkman had no offensive moves plus he can't shoot. Balkman has more hops than Hill and could play man-to-man defense. Hill can play good help defense but his man-to-man defense is not that good.
On offense Hill has a midrange shot that is good around the foul line and baseline. Balkman on the other hand could not shoot to save his life.

The problem with Hill is he plays flat footed. Meaning he only really jumps if he is dunking the ball. If he is doing a layup he barely gets off the ground. He can get better but he is going to be a project. If Lee is resigned I expect Lee and Curry to be the starters in the frontcourt. Not to mention Mike D is going to play Jeffries and Darko. I don't expect the Knicks to play Hill much if Lee is on the team.

it's all about effort & desire to improve & get better... Wilcox strikes me as a complacent guy... he's happy to collect his millions & not work on improving his skillset... he was taken high in the draft because of his amazing athletic ability & potential, but he didn't take the next steps required to raise his game to the next level... hopefully Jordan Hill doesn't follow in his footsteps... so far from the progress i've seen in Hill from his freshman season & the workout videos & games i've watched, i don't think we have to worry about him in that regard.

Wilcox doesn't hit the boards that hard given his size/athletic ability or play hard on defense.
I'm not confident about Hill's defense yet but he is a grade A rebounder. One of the best on the NCAA level.

Reminded me of the last Tommy Dee post on who gets minutes this year in the frontcourt. I think he was implying that DLee is the odd man out.

Since there's zero motivation to tank for better lottery odds (unless we trade for picks, which I'd love) AND there is motivation to try to win some damn games to show The Bron, and Wade and whoever that the Knicks are on the way up from the Abyss of the last decade...

How about we play whoever produces?

There can be compelling arguments made to play JJ and Curry (build up trade value) as well as for playing the kids.

What's more important?

Developing the kids or buidling up trade value to free cap space?

What makes the decision more difficult is that under normal circumstance, playing the kids is a win-win scenario for a rebuilding franchise.

Kids play well. Great
Kids suck. Lottery.

Option # 2 has no appeal anymore.

You're right TMS. Everyone forgets Wilcox's contract season where he was going nuts up in LA and the Clippers knew they couldn't re-sign him and had to trade him to Seattle. After he signed his deal his numbers plummeted back down to what they were two seasons before that. That guy is playing for the contract alone.

As Misterearl said which i will agree, Hill would be similiar to a Chris Bosh

Runs the floor well, avg defender, good rebounding skills and shot blocking abilities.

Very long and athletic..

What the current Pres/GM did in 7 mos, the last 2 GM/Pres couldn't do in 8 yrs. FREE CAP SPACE!

A bit off topic but I like the signature Woodman. Though I don't think Isiah ever gave a crap about cap space. I don't know if Dolan ever told him there was a salary cap.

There is a lot more to Chris Bosh's game. For 1 Hill doe not have a handle like Chris Bosh. Bosh uses his crossover and spin move to create his shot. Jordan Hill's handle is not good. If Bosh wanted to he could play the point forward position. Jordan Hill can not. Bosh also has good hands getting passes and going up strong. Hill has a tendency to drop easy passes. To say that Hill can be Bosh is really stretching it. Plus Jordan Hill is not as athletic as Bosh. Hill barely jumps if it is not a dunk.
