yep and agents never exaggerate, lie, or have an agenda. I'd like to ask this agent just how "relevant" he thought the Celtics were prior to 2 off seasons ago. The NBA is not the NFL, you don't need a major rebuilding project. You pick up a star or 2 and boom your a contender. The right star(Garnett, LBJ etc..) and your a title contender. The key is getting under the cap at the right time, and thats what we are doing. This agent is a buffoon, you think he's not going to steer his client TO NY with all the extra endorsement money available??? yea he's going to steer his guy towards a team like Dallas or NO that is 2nd rd. fodder instead just because they have been more "relevant" the past 5 years. hahahahaha
You do realize that in the history of the NBA, only one NBA franchise has won a chip by signing a major free agent? The Lakers got Shaq because he wanted to try film and music and also had Kobe Bryant. The Knicks have no assets to get Kevin Garnett or Ray Allen in a trade. so this "boom [you're] a contender" logic is flawed at best
Take a look at our roster
PG-career back up
SG-#23 pick in his 3rd year or some vets on short term contracts
Sf-#23 pick in his 3rd year or #6 pick in his 2nd year
PF-Up and coming young guy in 4th year or #8 pick.
C-A fat guy we may be trying to trade for a short contract, but also a fat guy with potential.
All the backups are young guys or vets with short contracts. If we don't get a top free agent guess what, our roster looks like every other rebuilding team that has ever existed. We go to battle with young guys and will try to get vets that have won before. That's what happens when you rebuild. The fact that we may have cap space in 2010 does not change this. We are rebuilding. True rebuilding teams are young with sprinkled in vets. They lose games and get draft picks. Other than Isiah trading away our 2010 how are we any different from the other rebuilding teams?
