the "allure" is associated with winning. Nothing more nothing less. Winning teams with stars attract other players. Its always been that way.

The Knicks have to start winnning and they will start to allure again.
thank you! I'm here till Thursday... try the veal!

I think one of the problems in NYC is fans and media. It's tuff out there.

The taunts and jeers can resume. New York still has Patrick Ewing to kick around. Ewing, an 11-time All-Star who has led his team to the playoffs 13 times, is arguably the greatest player in Knicks history and one of the best centers of all time. He is also called a choke artist, a bum who can't win the big one, a churlish, selfish millionaire who won't sign autographs for sick children. Good riddance, some said before the trade that would have sent him to Seattle last week was nixed.

I doubt highly players and agents alike have forgotten Ewings last days as of yet.

However, despite what I said above about New York eventually becoming a destination of choice I do agree with this post. The fans and the media have not made it easy for our GM's. And for that matter our GM's have not made it easy for our GM's. I think Walsh was right in his handling of Marbs, but when you add that on top of the treatment of Ewing, Chaney, the lawsuits etc, the impatience from fans that you are seeing even on this board, the lunacy of the media, it makes it tough. We are still the best place to play when we win.

I think it is hard for veteran guys who have families to move if they have the opportunity to stay. My guess is this had as much to do with Hill staying as anything else. I also think when you are Hill's age if you leave you go to a serious contender not a rebuilder. It was a nice idea but maybe the focus now needs to turn to David Lee.

word. just ask michael strahan. He's got a sitcom this year on Fox. You don't get that from playing in phoenix.

Everyone from Esaison, to Simms, VanGundy, Mark Jackson, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling have benefitted immensely from winning in New York-- Jackson and Van didn't even have chips and they're making millions calling the playoffs.

But it aint for the faint of heart, that's for sure. And at the rate these former ballers go bankrupt, I think it's worth it.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Winning in NY is a great thing. If we had found a way to win in 99............

1.) Latrell would have enough money to feed his kids
2.) Allan would have his own religion named after him
3.) Patrick would be a head coach and GM
4.) Kurt's eyes wouldn't be so crazy
5.) LJ would still be having kids
6.) Chris and Charlie would be in the hall of fame, known as the two grittiest guards in the history of the NBA.

You know how it is when you win in NY

We are doing things right. We got rid of all the malcontents and guys that helped to drag our name through the mud. We are replacing them with youth or attempting to replace them with quality, CLASSY VETS. We will struggle to do this. But over time it will get better and eventually free agents will want to come here just like they seem to want to come to every successful NY team. Don't be surprised if this takes a while. The only way to speed it up is getting lucky in 2010/2011 free agent pools. If not, we are going to have to continue to tear it down while we lose games. There is no other way.

I agree: If we don't get our stars through free agency, it will be a long, hard slog. But eventually...

Wow, I really hate Jim Dolan, that idiot rich kid.

I'm a little worried b/c these guys rejecting our offers- especially Hill, kind of lead me to believe that the Lebron to NY sentiment is waning among the NBA types. I think it would've been a really good sign if these guys had signed here.

I agree. To me, that's the worst part about Hill not signing here.

Listen, men, no one cares how another man was treated with the Knicks. As men, hoopsters care about winning and kicking-ass; whether or not a given player was treated poorly is irrelevant, because, as MEN, we understand that 1) it doesn't concern us and 2) he probably deserved what he got.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Wait, just JKidd and GHill rejected the offers, right? Kidd, who was offered like $7M more and an almost 100% chance to be in the playoffs with a solid team and a 36-year old who didn't want to uproot his family and who may also be in a playoff hunt?

I don't buy what you guys are saying.

I dunno Martin. You would have to believe that guys around the league, especially guys like Kidd and Hill, have some sort of idea of what the rest of the league feels about next years FA crop going to NY. Wouldn't it make sense if they knew that NY was going to be a 2010 FA hotbed that they woulda tried to sign here?

Kidd is in Dallas with a pretty good team. Hill, if he really wants can come next year. Why uproot now and wait and see how the 2010 landscape plays out?

Hey I'm not saying we're out of contention in the 2010 FA market - not even close. While you bring up a good point, why not wait til next year, I still take it as a minor blow to the potential 2010 plan.

I mean, let's be honest, there's still alot of time before next summer and alot of things can change, in the end, you're right, these events probably don't have anything to do with what happens next summer.

Get ya self an alba post.

What's an ALBA post?

You post a picture of a lady in the Alba thread (see off-topic forum) and then it counts towards your Alba count. I have posted several such pictures of pretty ladies.

Maybe someone named "moonangie" doesn't want to post pictures of pretty ladies.

Just a thought.

Or maybe he just didn't put alba posts on his top priority. When I find a juicy pic, I'll just do it.
