Eddy lost 50 pounds? I'll believe it when I see it. For all we know he was 400 before that.

Something seems a bit about that weight loss. The worst thing is the guy has a heart condition and definitely can't afford to take that ephedra stuff. Its great that he lost the weight, but something seems a bit fishy.

I'd love to see him in shape and motivated. Its great that he's finally gotten serious about it at the very least.

Hopefully he isn't popping diet pills with ephedrin and is doing it the right way.
Or if he is taking that stuff, hopefully he'll be able to play well and stay healthy long enough for us to trade him! I don't want anything bad happening to him health wise but he's an adult responsible for his own decisions.

Although Fish did comment on low intelligence. Hopefully he understands the risks of Ephedra.

Nice. I will even take Eddy at 290. Give us 12-14pts and 4-7 rebounds-just become a viable NBA center and trading him becomes so much easier. I am pulling for Eddy a bit too but just not here....

I belong to the 'wait and see' group on this issue. He certainly has lots of motivation to do it, and what he needs to do can be done. But when he reports to camp looking like he should, I'll believe it.

There are certain things we can expect and not expect from Curry even if he gets in shape. One thing we can expect is for him to command double teams in the low post. But however good shape he's in, he'll never be a good passer, rebounder or defensive player. He may become less of a liability in those areas, but he just doesn't have what it takes to excel in them. But he can be incredible in the low post and if he achieves that, as he did in the 06-07 season, he'll be very tradeable.

If true good for him. Besides him being in shape for the Knicks he has to get his life together. If he is at the same weight that he was under Isiah that will be an improvement.

Curry needs to look closest to this as possible....He was a baby then, but he also has world class trainers, money, time and a NBA team in his corner.

They say he was 300lbs at one point and I say he had to be more by the end of last season....He really needs to get to 280lbs or lower.

No way can he continue to show up on the court looking like this:

Its a shame to see a guy with this much talent, size and natural quickness waste like this. He's getting paid but sometimes money isn't enough. He needs to go out there and show people that he not only belongs but he is in fact the best inside player in the league today.

It's all mental with this dude...I mean his family was held at gun point....gambling problems....allegedly he's broke, yet still is getting nba checks??? When do you stop and say enough is enough??? He needs to pause and focus on his family and craft. I'm not hoping....I'm praying this guy can get it together. Not as a spoiled fan of the Knicks but a dude that just has compassion for his fellow man....

This actually sounds like the best regimen he's undertaking in his career. The one year he really lost weight in Chicago, it was artificial, cuz he was using diet pills and it almost killed him. Then he kind of did a better job and was in OK shape and put up good numbers, but then he just fell off the wagon and got bigger and bigger.

This time it sounds like Walsh and MDA made sure he got with a REAL conditioning guy and they made sure he ate properly. If you cut Salt from your diet you'll lose a LOT of water weight. Then they probably had him cleanse his colon and you know that likely dropped quite a bit. After that you can realistically lose 3lbs a week and not put yourself at any health risk even a bit more under the right supervision. So it's not out of the question for him to have lost 30-40 lbs. 50 could just be exaggeration.

The thing is that I really don't have any problems with an in shape Curry. When he's in shape and motivated even Howard couldn't stop him, so why wouldn't we want to see that? To be honest we've never really seen an in shape Curry in New York. Maybe this will be the 1st time and maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think Oliver Miller will be more effective than Eddy Curry this year.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

best thing for the knicks is for Curry to keep having legal and financial troubles...

... motivation to get another sucker to pay him a big contract when this one finally expires

50 lbs in 2 months is a lot, even for a 300-400 lbs person, especially one with a heart condition. 1-2 lbs per week is safe weight loss which if he really started in May would put him at 15-20 lbs of weight loss. So the 50 number is a little scary, but since he is large it is possible.

I doubt he can sustain it, even if he gets through the season in shape - he has shown a history of not being able to stay in shape. The real troubling part is that even if he does show up to play, his value probably won't rebound much because of his history like one of the quotes mentioned. We will most likely have this guy on our roster until he expires which is a crime considering how little he has played in the past couple seasons.

Supposedly Eddy was on SNY last night and they were showing him on the court and people that have seen it are saying he looks EXTREMELY fit. Anyone have a video of this? I was looking around SNY's website but couldn't find it.

Eddy's secret training location revealed

Seriously though--I hope this is true about Eddy. The one thing we know about Eddy is the man can score the basketball and when he was in fair shape was commanding double teams. I'm am sick of the Knicks scking--I want the gauntlet to be put down and I want to start winning basketball--I have in recent years wanted us to lose for regime change and better draft position[all in the best interests of our team] but no more--10 years--now I want to win. If Eddy comes in shape [although he may have done irreversible interior damage that we wont know about from the weight gain] and the stars align with him--why cant he average 16-18 points in 30 minutes a night and use Darko as his back up to change pace? At the very least--if he shows that he really can play again--his contract becomes an asset--it has little time remaining and if there is a team that needs a C and Eddy is doing 16-7-1 56%--that will be enticing.

Well, the thing about Eddy Curry is that when he's playing at the top of his game (like he was 2 years ago), he's right up there with the best centers in the NBA. With Yao apparently out, he could leapfrog all the way up to #2 in the NBA. I've been a bit on the fence about trading him. On one hand, we can make him someone else's prize/problem... but as he approaches time to go for a new contract, hey, maybe he'll be motivated for the next year or so.

If he comes in and puts up Shaq-lite numbers, he'd really help balance out our team and help paint the Knicks as a place where free agents might want to sign.

I lost 30 pounds in 60 days last year when I felt I was way overboard with drinking and quit cold turkey. Changed nothing else. Just stopped drinking.

Went from 190 to 160 in exactly 60 days. Given that it's not hard to fathom that a pro athlete under the watchful eye of trainers could lose 50 pounds off his 350+ pound fram in the same time frame.

I heard SNY ran a piece yesterday about Eddy losing 50 pounds, showed footage of him being slimmer, the problem was that Marbury and QBRick were in the footage I heard. LMFAO at that. Journalism at it's best I suppose.

Haha, if that's true, about the footage, then that's pathetic. Curry did not lose 50 frickin' pounds- if he did, they'd have some real footage of it. I'll believe it when I see it.
