danny green should get burn with the cavs.

varejao that is truly an awful contract. i think this is great for the knicks, nobody is going to offer lee that money and if nobody makes him an offer he has to at least take the qualifying offer for next yr. fantastic.

cleveland is flailing. i feel like lebron intends to stay with them, but i can't say why he would with moves like this.

i find it very hard to believe any move they make doesn't have lebron's approval.

Clevland doing a great job of making meaningless moves....Lebron is still gonna spend endless minutes pounding the rock into the ground.

From the article:

Varejao's contract is worth $42.5 million over the six years, and the final year is only partially guaranteed. Incentives could push the total amount to $50 million.

Yeah, 6 yrs 42.5 mil. Still a ridiculous contract. D Lee is definitely better than Varejao. Varejao shouldn't be getting more than 4 years, $18 to 22 mil.

They just blew a lot of cap space to keep this guy, if Cleveland doesn't get to the finals this year which they won't because they are going to have to beat Orlando and then the Celts, is Lebron really enticed to stay with that team.

Its $42 over 6 years. Thats pretty much a MLE deal with a 6th year. He's got some incentives that could earn him up to 50.

Whats so funny? Thats exactly the kind of deal we should offer Lee.

5.5, 5.5, 7, 8, 9, 9.5 = 6 years 44.5mm. A better deal than AV got and he's a cog on a title contendor. Lee is a cog on a 30 win team. Give Lee a player option after year 3. Thats a lot of security without being overpaid. If Lee becomes an all star player he can opt out after year 3 for max money if he so pleases.

I think his incentives have to be attainable. He's not very good so I doubt they're all that difficult to achieve. As to the final year being reported as partially guaranteed you rarely see teams just cut a player unless they're really washed up or badly injured and unlikely to return to action.

Even if all he gets is the 42M that's still way out of control for his services. Why should he get more than Birdman did? CLE grossly overpaid to keep a role player and if you read Cavs forums you will find their fans are downright confused why their team locked him up to such a contract. Very few found his contract reasonable and I see nothing to justify him getting so much money. I highly doubt anyone was offering him 10M a year for if they did would he not sign there instead?

If Lee and Varejao switched teams, wouldn't Lee be a cog on a title contender and Varejao a cog on a 30 win team?
