Duhon-Douglas
Chandler-Nate-Hughes
Harrington-Gallo
Lee-Hill
Curry-Jefferies

It's a shame we really can't go speed ball defense the entire game. I actually like that team and would love to see Harrington moved at somepoint it would really open up time for Gallo who has winning instincts and isn't going to launch 3's for no reason.

forget about the players on the roster. if free agents come, it will be b/c of city of ny and/or d'antoni.

I've been saying that for a while. If a big FA signs here, it won't have anything to do with the players on the current roster. It will have to do with the city, the coach, and NY's ability to absorb big contracts to acquire good supporting players.

It's funny but you have said this stuff about absorbing big contracts for a few years and that has been the Knicks worst nightmare. Unless it really makes snense--we cant do that anymore.

we need a team that shows the same heart that chaney's 37 win team showed.
guys used to kill me for saying that Chaney was a good coach and did a good job with that team. Our frontcourt rotation was Kurt/Othella/Doleac and Spoon, Houston/Sprewell/Shandon were our wings and Eisley and Ward our PGs. Yet we were in every game, let the league in 3's 3% fewest TOs and played hard every night.

When McKnee went down in the preseason I was actually proud of how hard that team fought each night to stay in games.

I remember those days. I think there were maybe 3 people total that thought he was a solid coach. I thought he did an amazing job with the roster that was handed to him.

He did an amazing job that one season and deserved a contract extension. The season after that, when we had KVH and Mutombo and an Allan Houston fresh off microfracture, I didn't think he did as well, but he didn't have much to work with. KVH was being a pansy for the first two months of the season, Houston was injured and KT was acting like a moron for most of that season, if anyone remembers. McDyess came back, but he wasn't a shell of his old self.

He didn't have much to work with and he didn't deserve one bit of the treatment he got from Isiah and the fans. Layden was a crap GM, but he gave Chaney the exact support that he deserved.

The question for me was not whether Chaney was a good coach or not. The question was whether he could take a team to the next level. I thought Lenny came in and did a good job initially(until he was undermined) but there was no reason for Chaney to be run out of town the way he was. He was a good guy, who didn't win, but got the most out of his talent. His treatment by Isiah was appalling. The appearance on Letterman was so unprofessional it's amazing.

If Gallo is back at 100%, Curry can get his weight down to 280, and we can keep Nate, I think we have a very good shot at the playoffs in MDA's system. Since I doubt any of the above are actually happening (maybe Gallo gets healthy), it is unlikely we are going to make the playoffs. If we get the #1 pick in the lottery, I will not be happy.

I'm talking about big contracts for players who can contribute. I trust Walsh to do that. Isiah couldn't. I'm talking closer to what Boston has been doing.

I think you may get something out of Curry the next year or so. I think he realizes that his career ends if he doesn't get his act together and financially he needs that next big contract. Every year I've torn apart any optimist that said "Eddie will be in shape this year". But actually this year, It hink he will be.
