Whatever with all this --- "well AK looks great in a suit and when he plays on Tuesday nights on the East Coast he averages 15pts a game, so he's much better than Curry," bullshyt. AK is trash. Jazz dont want McGrady who is even more worthless. Sloan would kill his ass in less than a week. thats what this is all about.

Tired of looking for the best in sorry ass players on other teams and looking for the worst in ours. I'm not saying Curry has the marketability of Dwight Howard, but he's still in his prime, he can score like few other big men in the league, and he only has two years left on his deal. We've got some work to do to turn him into a viable option, but get out of here with all this myopic, "its impossible" talk because I heard it all before with Crawford and Randolph. Not to mention other trades with less marketable players.

For the Rockets to pay 22 million for a guy who is hurting not helping, is completely out of the question. They are not the Knicks and they are desperate. Combining an asset with our liability to take a huge liability off their hands is not outrageous.
why do them favors? Curry + Mobely is a good deal. They need a center with Yao out for the year and possibly for ever. Curry never got going last year but has shown at the worst he can be a productive scorer in this league at a very high %.

Maybe we put in the $3mm in cash considerations and I think this move makes a lot of $$$ sense for Houston. Including Chandler doesnt make any sense. I would rather try and get Curry on the court and see what I can get in Dec like we did with Zach and Craford

I really dont see anything wrong with Curry/Mobley for McGrady...Im even willing to throw in Harrington if they want somebody to play immediately instead of Mobely...It makes a lot of sense.

TMac is in the last year of his contract with the largest expiring in the league. That in itself is an asset. Plus he still has val as a player who can carry a team. A team gets him for the last half of the season and play-offs they may be able to squeeze what little his body has left for a Finals run.

Rockets are in the drivers seat as far as trading TMac, esp since Yao is out for the year. Tank is in full effect.

No they're not. They are not in a financial position to pay somebody 22 million, even for one year, when he is a detriment to the franchise. The rest of the league knows this, thats why they are exploring deals for garbage like AK-47.

All these NY fans come in here thinking every team operates like us. The McGrady/Houston relationship has become untenable to say the least and they need out.

I dunno AK looks forked out there to me. He gets about a quarter of blocks he used too....can't make his shots anymore, doesn't hit the boards quite as well. He has slipped quite a bit.

if they are strapped for cash and don't want to pay a player not to play then why would they take curry's deal? whether they pay 23 mil to TMac this year or 23 mill over the life of Curry's deal, it is still paying 23 mil for a guy mostly unfit for one 82 game season let alone 2.

Thats why we include another asset (Harrington), and satisfy them on Curry's ability to come back. Sometimes teams just have to make a deal to make one...They are completely through with McGrady. Going further in the playoffs without him, sealed it. Plus they are in desperate need of a center now.

Eh, I'd rather have an injured T-Mac starting at center than Eddy starting at center. For the reasons McK1 listed, I think they should be demanding more than Mobley and Curry--two players who we all know should not set foot on a basketball court but are owed more money than T-Mac is.

i would think they could come up w a less embarrassing option than taking a risk on curry no? the only folks that are keen to trading eddy to houston are UK posters. the rest of the league is just looking the other way when his name is mentioned. maybe next year, with one year left, he'll be moveable. not this year. knicks best hope is that he actually gets into some form of gameshape where he is not an embarrassment and can start the season off well. then and only then will any other team consider trading for him, even as just an expiring deal.

Well right now neither are our players... and as someone that would be happy with a Rodriguez/first for Lee deal, it's not that I'm happy because it's equal value, it's getting low cost assets that fit needed roles while not jeopardizing next year's FA period. In order to get equal value the team is likely committing equal capspace, and capspace is the reason Lee is walking to begin with

You guys have too much invested in Curry and there is too much baggage here. Houston fans feel the same way about McGrady.

There is no way that a package consisting of AK-47 is superior to Curry/Harrington. No way.

they can tank and draft a center vs take on Curry. noone is expecting anything out of them anyway. next year is a big man draft.

forbes has houston listed as the 6th most valuable franchise worth 469 mill. don't know if they are as cash strapped as you're proposing. they may be through with McGrady but still have no reason to take Curry.

also i doubt the perception around FO's regarding AK47 is the same as the opinion in this thread. Whether true or not (even tho it is true) he is a better ball player and holds more value than Harrington or Curry or the present combo of both considering Curry's weight problems and general health and attitude towards basketball.

No way does AK-47 hold more value than Harrington based on output, salary structure, or any other measuring stick. No way.

I never thought Zach could be traded when we had him, but he was traded twice!

I would suspect that if we are looking to move Curry to Houston, chances are other potential deals (like Rubio & Minny, S&T with Lee/Nate) are taking a priority.

Al is the better scorer. AK47 is better at damn near everything else. I agree AK isn't worth his current contract, at least not to the Jazz.

This is a good example of not adjusting players' stats based on their playing time or efficiency. People tend not to appreciate things like one player getting 8 more minutes, .6 more turnovers, and .6 less assists a game. Here are two statistical comparisons I'd place trust in

Harrington vs. Kirilenko
PER rating: 15.98 vs. 16.82
Production rating (82games.com): 18.3 vs. 18.7

Also keep in mind the following that all tip the scale further toward Kirilenko
a) this was a career season for Harrington vs. a sub-par season for Kirilenko;
b) Kirilenko put up this production on a winning team while Harrington did on a losing team;
c) Kirilenko plays better man to man and help defense (which are not taken into account in these statistics unless the defense results in a steal or a block)
