Jason Kidd surely isn't elite anymore but the Mavs did win 50 games with him. Should they have have held onto Harris? Yes. Does that mean they should tear it down and rebuild? Debatable... especially when you figure Dirk only has a few years of his prime left

Dallas downgraded when they switched from Harris to Kidd at PG. That is not Kidd's fault. Most PGs in the league would be a downgrade from Harris. Kidd is still a solid player.

I'm glad he's not coming. Let's get Rubio now.

they overpaid on him, so it's a good thing we didn't sign him, another sign that dW knows how to run a franchise.

The Knicks couldn't over pay him. They are over the cap. MLE is all that they can offer. Walsh needs to stop pandering to players that have no intention of coming to the Knicks for less money than some other team is willing to offer.

And to take that further - Walsh would have been overpaying at 3 years, MLE type money for an over the hill PG.

The most he should have offered was 1 year, MLE.

Walsh and MDA got played.

We have seen it happen before - remember the summer of Brian Grant? Or how about Dampier? This is why I don't see Lebron coming but then again we never had max level money to offer so maybe 2010 will be different.

Bottom line is, this is a business and you are not going to get top level talent at discount prices just because it is NY. If anything they should want more to play here because of the media, how tough the fans are, not to mention the cost of living and taxes. I am glad we didn't get Kidd though, but I never thought he would take less money to come back here.

Getting played entails some kind of negative outcome. Walsh explored a possibility of getting a solid player, which he should do. It's not like he spent 24/7/365 on it. I'm sure the reverse has happened too--Walsh expressing interest in and talking with a player (or his agent) when in fact he felt it was unlikely they would sign the player. He may be doing that with D Lee right now actually. We'll see.

I have a feeling D Lee resigns with the Knicks - I just don't see him getting $10 mill per season somewhere else.

i still think we're targetting him w/the plan of trading Wilson Chandler for Rubio.

Knicks sign Kidd = what are we doing going for this over the hill, past his prime, aging sucker

Kidd signs with Dallas = the Knicks got played, what a bunch of suckers, no one is ever gonna wanna sign with us

If there's one reason to love UK, it's to appreciate all the different ways that Knicks fans can be dissatisfied.

Hasn't Walsh learned by now that someone could come swooping in and take Rubio out of his grasp instead of pissing around. It already happened once by his buddy when he couldn't pull the trigger on a deal with Washington. Walsh should be thinking that he has Harrington, Hughes and Gallo still on the roster. Getting Grant Hill is such a BS move. He doesn't need to be waiting to trade Chandler, because if Rubio is what you want then go get him. The team is already stacked at sf and he still has Hughes. The teams deficiencies are at PG.

I think Walsh is pissing aroound unable to get a deal done to bring in the necessary talent. Now if you want garbage talent to get under the cap, then that he can definitely get done. I don't have faith in Walsh to bring in the true talent that he wants.

it could be that Kahn is messing around & demanding more than what Walsh was initially willing to give up too, who knows? the longer the situation plays out in MIN w/Rubio's status then the more positive i become that he becomes a Knick eventually... i think other teams will be scared off by the buyout issues too, but i agree w/u, if Walsh has something in the works to get Rubio using Chandler, then he needs to pull the trigger on it now & stop pissing around... that is if Chandler is the only piece involved in the deal... my assumption is that Kahn is holding onto his card for now & weighing all other offers, but to me Donnie is targetting Grant Hill cuz he plans on using Chandler as a piece to get Rubio... just my personal gut feeling.

Yes, Knicks get Rubio, and he becomes another in a long line of distinguished and successful European players for the Knicks.

Frédéric Weis
Miloš Vujanić
Maciej Lampe
Danilo Gallinari

Hopefully that Gallinari kid can play this year and erases his name from that list - that is an ugly list so far
