i think Ron Ron will be like Jordan's Bulls adding Dennis Rodman... even tho he's crazy, he'll still help them win titles.

Ariza played himself. He tried to play tough guy and demand a big contract from the Lakers. While Ariza was trying to play "Mr. Payday" the Lakers signed Artest. lol So the end result is Ariza did not get the money he wanted and had to sign in Houston for the same money the Lakers would have gave him. The only difference is Ariza is now on a Houston Rockets team that might win about 20 games while the Lakers are on their way for another title. Ariza's agent must have had Ariza smoking that championship pipe a little too long.

I dunno...Briggs has a point --- Ron Ron is a volume shooter. Rodman complimented Jordan/Pippen so much because his whole game was predicated on rebounding so there were few in court conflicts.

that's fair, but i think Kobe & Ron actually have a lot of respect for one another even w/the trashtalkin & what not... i think they'll be able to work together well... if Bynum shows anything at all next season they'll be the odds on favorite to repeat.

Has Artest really been a problem since the Detroit incident?

For sacramento and houston, he had a nasty habit of getting thrown out of and suspended from playoff games where his teammates could have used him.

True, there is that risk with him. But as long as he's the second best player on a team, I say it's worth the risk... he can take over on both ends of the court and look like the best player on both teams regardless o who he's playing--and he'll be the third best player on this team. If he gets thrown out of the game the Lakers still got Kobe and Gasol and now can let Bynum be the overpaid role player he is

this is true, but those teams had a hard time making it back to the playoffs without him. he's a double-edged sword, but still a major difference maker.

A defining moment for Artest.

If Odom decides to stay, the Lakers, barring injury, will basically be the same team as last year- maybe a bit better because Bynum has another year under his belt. The major change will be the substitution of Artest for Ariza. Is he willing to take over the role that Ariza played on the team, or will he want to have a greater role?

It will be interesting to see if Artest can fit into the Lakers' team construct and stay under control on the Lakers, or if he lets his Queensbridge roots get the best of him in heated moments.

They will be an interesting team to follow next year.

Get odom back with a proper nutritionist and they can challange the 70 win team Phil had with the bulls if they can stay healthy.

That takes a bit of luck.
