Its a perfect situation for us at the five - the question is who is hungrier: Darko or Curry?

If its Darko, great. If its Curry, he probably eats Darko.

Either way, he comes off the cap at the end of the year.

How much will Curry weigh after eating a Darko sandwich? Supersized of course...

I think Eddy gets excited thinking about darko.

Maybe Eddy's problem in defending the post is he gets distacted when backed into?

Sad stat:

Darko has more NBA Championship rings than this entire roster, and DW combined.

I think Darko fills a space and as long as he moves the ball which he's capable of doing, hits an open shot, which he's capable of doing and blocks some shots... I just don't see a downside to him. Just being 7 ft and near the basket he's gonna get some easy scores in this offense. As teams have to rotate in order to stop our 3pt barrage, Darko is gonna find himself open a lot.

The biggest area that Darko will help us in isn't on offense. Heck we can already score with the best of them. It's getting a few more stops per game that will make all the difference for this team. Just his big body man to man in the paint should help and then his help D too, should make a big difference over the course of a game. I don't see how he can fail in this scenario. It's not like we're looking for him to post up back to the basket. He'll get some high post pick and pop stuff and leave the middle open for our slashers. This should be a cakewalk for him.

He looked good when he played with Dwight two years ago. You never know we aren't asking for a lot a couple of blocks and a few pts and boards.

He isn't going to be a big time player, Harrington is a big time talent, Darko is not and hasn't shown any flashes. If Harrington wasn't brain dead and didn't take contested shots and three pointers he might be an all-star. There isn't a tremendous difference between him and Caron Butler.

I feel the most he will be is what he was in Orlando. Not sure why there would be any reason to expect more than that until he proves otherwise.

Regardless, no more QBricks, and we can view the Darko trade like the Malik for Wilcox trade. It might work and if it does great....if it doesn't....no loss.

Well then we can give him a max contract extension if Lebron doesn't want to come!

This kind of reminds me of Kwame going to the Lakers (granted we have less talent). Darko has underachieved so far and this is his chance to turn it around.

He definitely has fire in his personality which gets him points in my book, but he needs to bring that to the court.

realistically as long as he doesn't act like a jackass he can fill a role on this team, at the very least be an improved version of Chris Dudley w/a midrange J.

This is probably the 6th or 7th time I've said this- the Darko trade is a no lose situation for us. If he plays like he has recently, he is gone and he can go back to Europe to play ball and raise his kid. If he has a good year, he might now be mature enough to settle for a modest contract from us in a system he's comfortable in, rather than go to a team where he might not do as well. We lost Richardson to get him- a guy who was not in our future plans. This was a perfect trade- just wish we had done it last year.

Most know its a no lose situation but to expect something out of Darko I think is going out on a limb.

I thought that some folks, not necessarily UK, saw it as a foolish trade- looking more at Milicic the #2 pick bust, than a guy who can give you some shot blocking, intimidation, rebounds, etc.. He was traded for a player- Richardson- who clearly has little to give us now or in the future. Supposedly MDA likes him and thinks he can get something from him- lets see if he can do it. I expect at least the kind of production he had in Orlando 06-7 assuming that he is physically (and mentally) healthy- not production worthy of the #2 pick in the draft, but that of a good rotation-worthy big man.

Darko plays like a good backup or a weak starter. That's not as bad as it sounds considering how few good centers there are in this league.

Here's the strange thing for me: Harrington acts, looks, and plays like a bonehead. And Walsh loves him. Those 2 things don't equate for me.

It's so wierd! I've said it a million times - when Al Harrington is interview in pre and post games the dude speaks as if he's one of the smartest players (and not just in a basketball sense) in the NBA, but when he gets on the court, it's like he reverts to a dimwit. It's very strange.

If Darko sets up in prime position for a high % shot--I think he will do better than what people think. If he continues to want to play from the mid range where he uses that line drive jumpshot--not as much. He's an NBA player--it's not like we traded for a stiff--the question is can he play smarter and get more atts at point blank range. Why cant Darko get like 3-4 layups and two dunks in a wide open system? It will be a wait and see ---Wilcox was not as good as I thought he might be--in fact he was worse than his previous team. Maybe that is a result of not having a training camp here?
would you say he's got more stiff or less stiff legs than Gallo?

Exactly. Just look at half the posts stating they expect to get similar numbers to when Darko was on Orlando. When Curry was signed weren't people expecting him to be beasting like he did one year in Chicago? The jury is out on this one until he hits the court - but I feel like we have a few players on our roster we are all hoping to turn things around and produce. You can get away with one of those on a roster otherwise filled with talent, but you cant expect it out of the majority of your front line.

Given the fact that we had no defensive presence from the center position last year, Darko will be a modest upgrade there. If he can score 8 pts and grab 8 rebounds, while blocking 1-2 shots a game and changing a few others, then he is more than worth the trade.
