This is probably the 6th or 7th time I've said this- the Darko trade is a no lose situation for us. If he plays like he has recently, he is gone and he can go back to Europe to play ball and raise his kid. If he has a good year, he might now be mature enough to settle for a modest contract from us in a system he's comfortable in, rather than go to a team where he might not do as well. We lost Richardson to get him- a guy who was not in our future plans. This was a perfect trade- just wish we had done it last year.
Most know its a no lose situation but to expect something out of Darko I think is going out on a limb.
I thought that some folks, not necessarily UK, saw it as a foolish trade- looking more at Milicic the #2 pick bust, than a guy who can give you some shot blocking, intimidation, rebounds, etc.. He was traded for a player- Richardson- who clearly has little to give us now or in the future. Supposedly MDA likes him and thinks he can get something from him- lets see if he can do it. I expect at least the kind of production he had in Orlando 06-7 assuming that he is physically (and mentally) healthy- not production worthy of the #2 pick in the draft, but that of a good rotation-worthy big man.
