Kidds agent puts it out there to get his name in the papers and really to help his value go up.

If cubans smart he,ll package howard with kidd in s n t. I also prefer nash but quite frankly any pg is going to shine with mda, kidds no exception, and his experience help even more.

everyone except Duhon....Duhon is the only nba player that burns out with 70% of the season to play and everyone is ok with it. He needs a rest while other guys get mad when you take them out.

I'd sign him to a one year rental for sure (if playing in New York is really that important to him). He may not be a contending status point guard but he'd immediately be the team's best player. I'd be happy to watch him for a year and even happier to have him mentor a young point. I think Kidd would relish being the starting point guard for the Knicks for a season and I think the young players would learn how to properly play offense.

Duhon went from 22mins to almost 45min pratically over night. He was a backup and overachieve in the begining. The peak of his success last season was when we had JC and Zach. So you know what means

That he sucks??? Everyone's dream is to start in the nba....if he can only go 22 mins and he is a pro baller still in his 20's, then he needs to go sit on coach k's bench as an assistant coach at duke....the excuses are pathetic.

Duhon's not that good, agreed, but he was run into the ground.

Apparently he's a big-time partier, so maybe it would be a good idea to have him take a sobriety test before the game. You know... have him take 9 steps heel-to-toe along the baseline one direction and back while counting 1001,1002, etc.

Just a thought.

on a 1 year deal he's a no brainer... i doubt he'd sign a 1 year deal tho... he's probably looking for a 2-3 year deal at least cuz this is probably his last real chance to get a multiyear contract.

Kidd for one year... well, I think you've read my feeling in this thread. It would break continuity. He wouldn't be here beyond 1 year. I think it's more important for the development of who of Gallo/Chandler/Lee/Nate might still be here beyond 2009 or 2010 --- to have the same PG running the show.

In that, they can just concentrate on elevating their games.

Add in Kidd? Now you have those players trying to adjust to the new PG. I'd rather not see that especially if it's just for 1 or 2 seasons. I see no benefit in fact I see a negative impact.

Let us stick with Duhon yet again this year, maybe get him some help (maybe we did with Douglass) and let everyone continue to be familiar with one another for a 2nd straight season.

I think more growth can occur for the youngsters that way.

Duhon probably won't be here after next year either... he was always a stopgap solution... bringing in Kidd wouldn't do anything to break continuity, there won't be much continuity in 2010 regardless.

If Kidd wants to play in this area he'll take a 1 yr deal. He's already made a ton of money and he only has 1 or 2 yrs left anyway. Something like a 1 yr deal with a team option for a 2nd may just work. I think if the Knicks are gunning for the playoffs next year they almost have to make Kidd an offer like that.

I totally agree! He'll be 37 by the start of the season and we just need a facilator t orun the point.

1 yr and and option is perfect.

Knicks To Meet With Kidd On Wednesday

Jun 30, 2009 7:34 AM EST
The Knicks plan to meet with free-agent point guard Jason Kidd on Wednesday.

Kidd is scheduled to meet with New York president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni early Wednesday, according to a league source.

He is expected to talk with the Mavericks before meeting with the Knicks in order to give them the first chance to re-sign him.

The Knicks could offer Kidd their mid-level exception, or work a sign-and-trade with Dallas.

Anyone who doesn't want this guy for a year or two is brain dead. He is still a top 10 point guard in the league, maybe even a little higher. He gets people easy buckets, Gallo, Chandler, Lee, Curry will have a field day out there. And when was the last time Kidd wasn't in the playoffs.

Gallo will look like Dirk light with kidd hitting the open man. To bad we can't move Duhon and Harrington and give him a big money deal for a year.

This guy is a value booster. Martin, RJ, Dice, Moore everyone gets paid when they play with kidd.

I want players who are young and will be a part of our future and by that I mean 2010-2015 at least.

Kidd serves no value here.

He's old, his skills are declining, he won't be a factor for more than 1 or 2 seasons, I want to build continuity on our team and adding Kidd does the opposite. First the players have to learn how to play with him and then he'll be gone just like that.

There is no value in this.

I am more surprised that one of the elite six teams in the league wouldn't be more suitable for him.

Why would you be rooting for spending more money on a stopgap? How is it in the Knicks' best interest to be spending "big money" on Jason Kidd?

We are in the point where we need a stop gap. Our options right now at PG is Duhon, Douglas and maybe Nate if he is resigned. Unless we get a stud PG via trade then you need to sign Kidd for 1 year for Big Money. Mercenaries R US.

If it's for one year and we give him 14 million for two players it is clearly in our best interest. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

I just outlined that Kidd makes every single player on the team better offensively. Jason Terry just one the sixth man of the year. He is going to get our guys easy buckets and increase there value. He is a rental for a year, and Dallas won't let the guy go anyway.

But if you are trying to get Curry to be attractive or some of our other players, Kidd will do that and he will get the team into the playoffs in the eastern conference.

Bulls, Heat, Hawks, Cavs, Celts, Magic, Wizards, Sixers (who are vastly overated and we could overtake)

Kidd/Douglas
Chandler/Nate
Gallo/Hughes
Lee/Jefferies
Curry/Hill

Yeah I'm leaning on signing Kidd...Stop gap...and maybe this is a good way to trade off Jared...

Maybe Dallas would take some expirings for Kidd...Cuban is gonna want more than that cuz he's a douche...maybe wilson would have to be in the the deal...maybe the Knicks can make it a bigger deal and take Josh Howard for a ride too.

Why would we trade for Kidd when he's a FA?

Kidd reinvented his game and shot a higher % last year.

Dude can play til he's 40 as he no longer relies on speed to be effective.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
