I like KC Rivers from Clemson too - 6'5" two-way off-guard that's been a steady performer for that program for a few years now... I'm also still interested in possibly bringing in Marcus Williams for a look at the point. I know GS bought him out last April, he went overseas before being picked up by the Spurs late last year. Anyone know if Williams went back overseas? Is he still with the Spurs? This kid ran a real good show at U-Conn and showed some real nice signs for the Nets early on.

Christmas will be in the Sixers camp
The Sixers extended an invitation to former Temple standout Dionte Christmas, who wasn’t picked in Thursday night’s NBA Draft, to join the team’s combined summer league team with the Nets at the Orlando Pro Summer League.

Christmas apparently decided to accept the offer and will report to Central Florida on July 2 for a brief mini-camp preceding the July 6-10 games. He averaged 19.5 points and 5.8 rebounds last season for the Owls.

See this is what I'm talking about. Why can't WE be the ones for a change to bring in talent like this for summer league action? Christmas was a nice player for Temple last year. 6'5" and can really shoot the ball. Quality. Oh right, we're bringing in Dan Grunfeld, it's OK... We just do a piss-poor job of constructing our summer league teams ever year IMO. There's always quality guys out there every year, and every damn year we let them slip through the cracks by showing no interest. I mean what's the deal? Do your damn homework for Christ's sake and open your eyes to some other possibilities... For us, it just feels like it's always our draft picks and then a list of complete scrubs that have ZERO chance of making the team - the Walker Russell Jrs, the Brian Greenes, the Dan Grunfelds, the Paul Millers --- come on man. Pathetic. Those guys can't play. That's why I was shocked last year when we brought in Von Wafer. So against the grain for us... Christmas would've been nice man. We just need to do a little more homework and put in a little more effort after the draft is over - talk to some agents and just have a much better plan in place on how to proceed with summer league. It's like we seem content to just start the development process with our own pick or two or with our 2nd-year players and not even open our eyes to these other quality possibilites. I don't know who's directly in charge of this aspect, but we need to start doing a much better job of contructing our summer league clubs..

^I still have high hopes that PEJr will end up a Knick this year.

It's been a year. Why not revisit? We'd be shameful not to invite him to camp at least.

that bites... he woulda made a nice replacement for Q Rich off the bench... wouldn't mind bringing Jeff Adrien in if we can... he's undersized for a PF but he plays w/energy & hustle... would add some good depth to our bench... i think he can be another Leon Powe.

There is more than 1 nice pick for the SL teams out there--this draft couldve went to round 3. It was a star -studded draft but it was filled with good secondary type players who could turn out to be steals. I like Paul Harris--I think he brings an element of toughness and we just lost a big guard body in Q.

I had known about Heyvelt and Christmas, but I forgot about Harris. I also think that he is worth a look. Can't hurt, and I though that I read about him being looking like a tough 1/1 defender. I also saw some clips of his workout jump shooting, and he did not look terrible.

An update on Harris:
Paul Harris has summer league offers

Paul Harris wasn't selected in the NBA's two-round draft on Thursday, but the Syracuse University junior appears to be on the verge of agreeing to play in an NBA-sanctioned summer league.

Jeff Bishop, Harris' AAU coach, said Harris and his agent, Leon Rose of Creative Artists Agency, are mulling over offers from three NBA teams to play summer-league ball. According to Bishop, the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed in interest in having Harris play for them this summer.

Bishop added that more teams could be contacting Rose today.

Knicks should invite these guys into Summer Leagues:

Josh Heyvelt - versatile bigman who can shoot the rock from the perimeter & block shots... would be a nice fit in MDA's system & perfect complement to Jordan Hill's inside game... please get me this guy & boot Jared Fishlips' useless butt off this team ASAP!

Jeff Adrien - undersized but plays w/fire, energy & hustle... this guy would be a fan favorite in NY, a natural bring your lunch & eat it type guy... i see a lot of Leon Powe in him... would add some nice depth to our frontcourt off the bench & can fill Q Rich's minutes in the rotation.

Nic Wise - sparkplug type player off the bench & would be a nice backup for Duhon (or possible future starter)... he was a leader on Jordan Hill's team & made big plays down the stretch for them in several games i watched them play... T. Douglas is not really a PG anyway

He turned into a total spaz at Syracuse and he has a European contract lined up ready to be signed.

Paul Harris is the more surprising one from cuse to not get a look.

Relax huh? So far it looks like Christmas, Paul Harris and AD Vassallo have already committed to NBA teams for summer action - it looks like Harris is going to the Cavs' summer team and Vassallo's set to play with the Bulls in Vegas. We couldn't have have used any of these guys?? Come on dude. I mean what the hell are we doing???? We're just asleep at the wheel when it comes to pursuing and putting together summer league talent...

Maybe Walsh has done his HW and that is not why he did not try to get these guys on our SL team.

I thought Harris would be a nice guy for us to pick up, and there are some others I have cited before, but none of us really know what Walsh and MDA think about the guys who are available and can be a fit on our team.

We have to have a certain degree of faith in the talent evaluation skills of our brass and just hope that they do the right thing.

We will probably have a few decent undrafteds. There honestly are better undrafted talents from last year than there are from this year. In any case, just b/c someone is on your summer league squad doesn't mean your the team that ends up with that player.

I always believe that you just keep a keen eye open during the SL process. It doesnt really matter what team a player is on--you can swoop in and sign anyone. I would think the Knicks would be looking at guys who can shoot first--like Leo Lyons Hyfelt from the big positions and then guards like the two guys from Marquette. I would still like them to look at Morris Almond or Marcus Williams since we still need to look at PG's and shooting guards with size. Nevertheless--I think that you just keep your eyes open and not worry that much about who is on what team.

Almond would be great, he'd be a shoe-in for MikeD.

They just spent 4mm on Douglas--if McNeal came in and was superior--that might make them look a little foolish. I agree Id like to see him but I doubt it. I really think Morris Almond deserves a real good look--he can really shoot the ball--Jesus I really thought he was Alan Houston part 2. No one remembers just how good of a three point shooter the guy is with that great body. Sometimes other peoples junk is your gold.
