Andrew - $3M is Cablevision petty cash

I'll do you one better though. It was "widely reported" that Governor Mark Sanford was hiking on The (cough) Appalachian Trail.

The only thing that will disgust me here if we reach for Jack McClinton--otherwise an interesting diversified player could fall here

I agree. I think the whole Taft thing was widely reported on message boards but never in the media. Not that I can find at least.

The Answer Man May Be A Bit Crazy But He Never Lies

Q. orangeblob - have you worked closely with the front office of an NBA franchise?

A. Yes, from 1998 - 2004

Q. orangeblob - How would one infiltrate something like that?

A. You build trust with the Vice President of Marketing for about five years prior, and take it from there

Q. orangeblob - If you had to quantify it, how 'on-target' are fan speculations regarding player movement, scale of 1-10?

A. A solid 5. Player movement can sometimes be determined by details that have less to do with talent, and more about personal behavior, ability to take direction or conforming to team rules. With that said, I would also submit there are several posters here who could do as competent, or better, a job as the executives watching from the sidelines.

Lakers agree to trade first-round draft pick to Knicks
Damian Dovarganes / Associated Press

In return, L.A. will get a 2011 second-round pick and $3 million. The Lakers still hold the 42nd and 59th selections overall in tonight's draft.

In an effort to reduce luxury-tax implications, the Lakers have agreed to trade their first-round pick in tonight's NBA draft to the New York Knicks.

The Lakers will receive a 2011 second-round pick and $3 million from the Knicks. The Lakers declined to comment.

Wait... 3M? Why was it reported last night that the Lakers were selling it for 1M? What changed? Now they say we threw in the 2011 2nd rounder as well? Unless we swing the Memphis deal I hint at using the #29 then....isn't this an awfully steep price?

Why is he a reach? The guy is a dead on 3pt shooter (45%) on a team without much talent (sound familiar?). He can't finish but as a shooter he is as good as they come (at 5'11" anyway) and is instant offense off the bench. He could at least replace Nate's outside shooting, but clearly not his finishing.

snippet:
Despite playing on a bad team with few other scoring options, McClinton was the most efficient shooting guard in our database at 1.08 PPP. He also ranked second in logged FG% at 47%, on a very respectable 18.6 possessions per game. Showing clear-cut limitations as a finisher around the basket (2nd worst amongst all SGs in fact), McClinton’s best asset is his jump shot. He was above average in PPP in his 1.9 guarded catch and shoot shots per game at 1.09, but was off the charts at 1.8 PPP on 2.5 unguarded catch and shoot shots per game. He was also the best pull up shooter in our database at 1.08 PPP on 5.5 shots per game.

Though he didn’t stand out on the pick and roll or in transition, McClinton’s 1.07 PPP on 4 isolation possessions per game lead us to believe that he has most of the raw tools required to be an excellent threat to score off the bench. He shot over 50% in one-on-one situations driving in either direction, making him the most balanced player on our list. Even though he took a lot of threes, McClinton still scored on a higher percentage of his logged possessions than any other two at 47%. Though he’ll need to expand his range a bit and show that he can produce at the same level he did this season, it isn’t inconceivable that he develops into an Eddie House type player down the road.

Notice the things I highlighted, he is up there when rating players offensively. D.E. has him going pick 29 in round 1! eheh

Exciting stuff.

This is a great day to be fan of Knicks basketball. Hopefully, Donnie Walsh has Isiah Thomas stashed in the war room for a third opinion on the number 29 selection.

Can you say David Lee?

Yes, thank goodness Cap'n Zeke is still secretly in charge.

Why would I get hot in my pants about a 6-1 shooting guard who primarily shoots 3's and is already 24 years old? Didnt we give Roberson a million dollars--are you going to tell me we are spending 3mm on this kid we couldve EASILY taken well into round 2?

Come on let me in the door and I will draft us a much better player witha blind fold

Great. I was hoping Walsh would jump on this.

could be?

Rookie - C'mon dude, you are dishing and swishing' with The Answer Man. A handsome, active big man with a multiple skill set (who can block shots) and a less than perfect personal resume.

Briggs - projected, mock draft slots don't make players. Skill sets make players.
