Obvously as a Knick fan, I'm not very happy that Sha may make the Cavs a better team, enticing Lebron to resign. But with that said, Lebron has owned the paint for years, now Shaq gets in the way....should be interesting.
why does that entice him to resign? This is prob Shaqs last year.

What does he have left in the tank? This isn't 2004. He wasn't terrible last year but how much can he really help the Cavs? How is he any different than Ilgauskis or Varejao at this point in his career?

He'll be better than Wallace that's for certain but I'm not convinced he gets LeBron a ring - unless the league REALLY wants him to - like in 2004 when the Mavs got completely SCREWED over by the officiating.
he was pretty solid last year.

Few things will motivate this guy, but I think he shows up lighter than he has in 5 years and the Cavs win the title. Cavs are deep and can limit his minutes. You know the guy wants to win one more and wont get a better shot. That would be 5 titles. I hope they win. Shaq is a goofball but he's a great personality.

He does always embrace a new setting and tries his hardest to succeed. I just question his age and mobility now. It's tough to explain but 18/8 from "this" Shaq isn't the same as from a 34 year old Shaq. It's slower evolving, it costs the team possessions versus clock, and you have to work harder to get him the ball where he wants it thus locking out other players. The Suns have been terrible since they acquired him despite good statistics. I think he will once again get the calls from the refs though as he's teamed up with the league's #1 golden boy again. First Kobe, then Wade, now LeBron. The NBA is loving this and they will do their best to see it through. So it would not surprise me if the Cavs added another big player like maybe Rasheed and have a run at it next year.

I agree with your other post: This in no way influences LeBron to stay in Cleveland. If he stays then he wanted to stay all along. If he leaves he wanted to leave all along. Shaq on his last legs isn't changing that IMO. If Bron stays then Shaq re-ups for probably ONE LAST YEAR but not the other way around.

Perhaps. But there is no question that the Cavs will be better and may win a chip or at least get to the finals. Shaq showed last year that he still has something in the tank. I just feel that if Lebron knows he's right there, at the cusp, I can see him staying in Cleveland as opposed to starting over with us. And I have no idea how he reacts if they win the chip next year.

No-brainer for the Cavs:

1. Serious shot at a championship if they know how to use Shaq

2. Great cap space to get another star in 2010 after Shaq's contract ends.

Shaq may be old, but he is far from finished, specially if given time to rest. This will be interesting.

fair enough... but none of this will matter. Lebron will come to NY because he wants to come to NY. Speaking of Shaq he left and Orlando team that went to the finals with Penny to go to the Lakers because thats where he wanted to be.

Knicks need to buy a couple more picks, maybe get a MLE player at great value, move JJ and Curry, either let Lee and Nate walk or S&T them and then offer Lebron and Wade max deals and the keys to the city.

They are gonna have to run the offense through Shaq...means that gives Lebron a break...he needs to play off the ball...good trade.

BTW, this twitter **** is crazy....who woulda thought something like that would be used to break a big story like this????

Yeah, Twitter has seen an incredible amount publicity over the last couple of months. Having the CIA be one of your biggest supporters can't hurt either. Keep tweeting everyone.

Talk about a lucky mother ****er!
Look at the players Shaq has played with in his career:

Penny Hardaway
Kobe Bryant
Dwyane Wade
Steve Nash
Lebron James

All TOP TIER All-stars, most MVPs or candidates.
Compare that with Ewing's career. Or even Hakeem's.
This guy is Phil Jackson lucky.

Damn you Shaq!!! There goes the Eddy to Cavs scenario. Hey, maybe they want a twin tower effect.

I don't know if it's luck. Greatness finds greatness and becomes greater. Ewing was never on Shaq's level.

Shaq is certainly a more physical player but I am quite sure that if Ewing had Kobe or Wade as a side kick he would have won titles.
