That's a good deal. I wish we could do that Darko + Pick 2 package for Pick 8, Mobley, Pick 28.

waaaaayyyyy too much for #2.

Not sure I agree with that. Seems like we are trading $9m and pick #8 for pick #2. We bought 28 for 3M. Mobley will save them $6M in insured salary. And we turn a non-functioning player into an able body (if nothing else). I dunno, do you think Mem would do the deal for the #8 and Mobley (and not include the #28?)

As an aside, would you trade Chandler and Mobley for Darko and the #2?

Absolutely.

Draft buzz: Knicks, Grizzlies revive trade talks
by Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports

Editor’s note: This is the latest from around the league; be sure to check back throughout the day for more NBA draft updates.

The New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies are pushing hard on a Quentin Richardson(notes)-Darko Milicic trade, and an agreement could come this week, league sources said.

The two teams have revived discussions from the February trade deadline on the deal. Richardson has an expiring $9.3 million contract and would be another athletic wing player to go with O.J. Mayo(notes) and Rudy Gay(notes).

Milicic, a 7-foot forward-center, is in the final year of his contract and could give the Knicks some rebounding and presence near the rim.

* * * * *

As the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare to make a push for Memphis’ pick at No. 2, it’s become clear that they won’t package the fifth and sixth picks to get there. The Wolves have made it clear to teams that are trying to pry their 18th pick that it isn’t available. They want to use that in combination with one of the two higher picks to make a deal with Memphis. …

From the same article:
Golden State has long been enamored with Brandon Jennings at No. 7, but league sources say the Warriors are considering Wake Forest forward James Johnson there as well. Few teams would have Johnson that high on their draft boards.

Even if this doesn't exactly happen, I still get the feeling that one of the top guys we would really want, make it Curry, Evans or even Hill, will be available because you know there is at least one team in the top 7 that might reach for a player they like but may be expected to go lower...

For a chance at Thabeet, yes. You have to take that chance. You might set yourself back a little, but it's for taking leaps foward.

If the Knicks were to select Rubio or Curry ahead of Thabeet, I would be extremely pissed.

I agree.

maybe swap picks? I like Memphis. I don't see anyone in this draft that will help them get any better. What they need is some veteran leadership

It'd be even better if we also got pick 2o'd.

Too bad we don't have any of that. If this is the case, then there are probably better offers out there than anything we can give them. We don't even have any veterans that WE want to keep ourselves, and this team clearly needs a leader

How about Harrington & #28 for Darko & #2.

Draft Thabeet & Jennings and call it a day.

I am READDDYYYYYYYYyy

Have wanted Darko in NYK since 2003. This guy will be special under MDA.. look for him to get the most improved player award if this deal goes down.

He is going to block 2.74 shots per game, grab 9.6 boards and put up like, 13.2 points for us .

This is a sleeper hit of a deal!!

Dude no way. I've said all along: Darko needs a loving environment, filled with support.. This guy is only like 24 YEARS OLD MAN!! HE HAS BLOCKED more than 2 per game in his career before

Imagine under mDA??? This is a dream come through for US (shot blocking), for him (a new start, a chance to be an all-star), and for the Knicks (who get a shotblocker, FINALLY, a legit shotblocker)

Darko is lazy and he's a headcase but if it's just for this season, then whatever.

Lazy?? A headcase??

He was abused by the evil Larry Brown in Detroit.. This set a bad tone for his career. MDA will revive him and make him AWESOME, LIKE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.

And he's not a headcase; he's just Serbian. Serbian people play with a passion, a hunger. They're warriors, man. We have a warrior on our hands, FINALLY.

Mark my words: Darko will revolutionize the Knicks next season.

EVERYONE on this forum will be worshiping him. This is our guy, this is it.

would love that trade but wouldn't take those picks you suggested if i made it... i'd rather end up with Rubio & Derozan or Hill & call it a decade.

I like him a little more than most too. Look, he hasn't lived up to expectations, not by a longshot. But he's big and has some skills and I think he could be a rotation big-man provided MDA extends a little bit of longer leash with him than he's had so far. At the very least, he gives us legit center size & a shot-blocking presence, even for only a year. And now there's no need to needlessly overspend for a guy like Gortat. If he doesn't work out - see ya later. Losing Q opens up more PT for Chandler and maybe even another young wing we could come up with here somehow. You definitely make this trade..
