NBA offense works almost exclusively around pick and roll - for that reason, Rubio and Curry are your best options at guard. Beyond that, whether its Evans, Harden, Jennings, or the other crap available, its really a non-factor.

It's a talent league always has been always will be. Tyreke Evans is the second best talent in this draft. He can handle the ball as good as any 5-11 guard in the draft and the power to go right through them. He is a mismatch nightmare and has all the tools. He has star player written all over him. In fact I would say its Evans Griffin and everyone else.

Sure its a talent league, but when your talents don't allow you to score, you're more or less screwed. In this case, more screwed. Ball-handling without the first-step to make a quick move, ability to shoot of the dribble with consistency and without the athleticism to finish against bigger defenders makes you a side-show rather than an all-star. Evans' stock, I'd say, is a product of a thin draft.

His body length handle and power for 19 years old is unique and will make him special. He can separate from defenders using a variety of these assets and will be a nightmare for opposing teams when he is utilized as the 1 guard. He also adds good vision rebounding and very solid defense--he doesn't have the uber athleticism--but he doesn't need it. He's got an *it* factor

this is interesting, u guys are making me think twice. Sounds like he could be good.. But is he a fit on this team???

Simpleton

Some of you guys are amazing. You start a thread basically bashing the guy without ever seeing him play...and completely changed your opinion because of what a few people posted. Hilarity.

anyway..I hardly ever agree with Briggs but, IMO, he is on the money about this guy.

EVANS or CURRY. I want one of those two wearing a Knicks as he shakes Sterns hand

Faggoton

I stated "from what I read" in my post, never did i claim to see him play... I said "sounds like".. I diddnt totally change my opinion, i said u guys are making me think twice and it sound slike he COULD be good. Whats the problem?

I made the post cuz I had yet to read any reasons why we should take him, and wanted explination.. which is what i got... is that ok with you?

Point is...

You made an opinion about something, or in this case, someONE based on someone ELSE opinion.

for example. Regardless of what Alan Hahn or C.Ford may report, I will never say anything negative or positive about R.Rubio or Jennings because I have never seen them play. and I bet a months pay check that they have never seen him play either...I realize thats all we have to go off of, but I like to form my opinions on things. Thats just the kind of man I am.

anyway...lets get back on track on convincing Elite that Evans was a solid College player and has potential to contribute in the NBA.

Go Knicks

you act like I was saying "This guy is horrible, bla bla bla" i was saying "Everything I read sounds horrible" I was making it clear that my impression was clearly based off reading peoples reports. I was asking for clarification from those who HAD seen him, or knew more than me. I dont watch college ball so this is all i can go by. Sorry but comparisons to Larry Hughes and Jamal Crawford scare me I think for good reason.

even after hearing how good he might be from everyone, I still think he is the wrong fit for our team... Doesnt sound like he fits w D'Antoni OR Lebron if we get him.

got it..My bad E.

He did play well in College, though. A very good player on a bad team so he didnt get the shine that he deserved.

How all that translate in the NBA is anybodys guess. Pick the best player and hope for the best

No prob, I understand our biggest need is a "go to guy" but I think that will be covered summer 2010.. or at least I hope. I'd just like to see us get a guy who fits the system, is unselfish, can play defense, has high BBIQ... Not sure who that player is but It just doesnt sound like Evans. If we take him and he lights it up for us ill shut the hell up quick lol I've only seen highlights so who am i to judge.

Personally I love the idea of S. Curry on this team. Flynn intrigues me, honeslty a lot of these guys do... I think no matter who we take D'Antoni wil maximize them. So lets take someone with a lot of upside!

If we steal this guy at 8--it will be the best move the franchise actually made for itself in more than 10 years. You cant worry about a system or position--this is a talent league and this is the 2nd best talent in this draft. This guy will absolutely thrive on this team and if we are lucky to get him--lucky if the chips fall right--we have something here. This team has been on the sht end of decisions too many times. This is the right decision.

Thank you, Rick Brunson.

You know how many all-star games JCraw would have made if he would have taken it to the hole five more times a game?

...all of them.

So if this guy is Jamal with size and wants to drive it then great.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If by miracle he does slip to 8 and we don't take him--we will have made another colossal blunder.
Just think about this for a second when comparing to G hendersen--he ran a team from the 1 guard that won 25 games in a row and had better numbers across the board then Hendersen although Evans is a freshmen and Hendersen is a junior. He is more athletic than Evans but Evans is a better scorer passer ballhandler defender--every skill Evans is superior and will only get better. Again there was no other player in the NCAA tournament this year to have a 33-5-4 game not only as a freshmen but ANY year of college. I think he showed you a glimpse of what he can do in an up tempo system. The fact that he can play 1 guard makes him so much more attractive than any of the two guards. He easily has one of the best handles in the world for a 6-5 guy and only 19 years old. On top of that the improved jumper he has shown this offseason seals the deal. If there was a player I would compare him to it would be Brandon Roy--Roy has that same ability to get into the lane with his handle and strength and do a LOT of damage. He can play 1 or 2 guard rebound playmake and defend. I see him as a 20/21-6-5 player who has the ability to led the league in steals.
