but looking at this from a Cavs' fans' perspective, i agree w/dj, it's pretty unprofessional... but there's no rules about professionalism in the world of marketing... this is all about creating hype, & Nike is better than anyone else in doing that.

I think this ad sends more messages than we believe.

Some say its a message Lebron is coming to NY with the 2010 and the orange and blue bird.

Others may argue that its about Lebron winning it all in 2010.

Most agree that its Nike throwing more fuel to the hype. But here is the point:

Why would Nike get into the 2010 hype? People always use the "Nike contract to come to NY" as a weak argument that sort of became an urban legend. But here is the same company getting into the 2010 bus. Why? Are they also sending a message that they DO have input on where Lebron ends and that they have some power, or should I say contract, to make him pick a certain team over another one?

I, as everyone else, may be looking too much into the ad, but the truth is, it is a Nike Ad about the importance of year 2010 to Mr. Lebron, and we know when both subjects have been discussed, they always seem to point to the Knicks.

it's a Nike Ad to market the Nike brand & promote their figureheads, Lebron & Kobe... we really shouldn't be trying to analyze this as if they're sending out subliminal messages... they're just trying to sell a product, nothing more nothing less.

I think some of us lose sight of the fact that it's all just business. BIG business to be accurate. The idea that it won't make a diff where Lebron plays is insane. Do you realize how many more Lebron numbered Nike shoes, NBA apparel and other products would sell if they had New York on them? Steph was a top jersey seller and practically no on but NY liked him, just imagine the Tri-state area sales of a Lebron Jersey? They'd be unreal!!! Don't think that Nike and the NBA don't know that. As much as he sells right now there are FAR more sales to be had with Lebron and NY on it. Even down here in the deep south where i'm at, there are tons of transplanted NY'ers. We're everywhere and yeah we rock our NY gear :)

I just think they couldn't be happier with the prospect of Lebron possibly going to NY. So yeah they're fanning the flames a bit, but this has only just begun and Lebron made this all possible by signing that 3 yr deal the way he did along with Wade. This was a calculated move by a guy who has said he wants to be a Billionaire. He comes to NY he makes that goal come true.

Cleveland STINKS! That team has already peaked. The timing couldn't be better for him to leave and come to a city that can afford to give him the supporting cast he needs to win a title.
