Add that with a speedy PG that can beat his man off the dribble and draw defenders to create for everyone else, and a stud *scoring* SG that can take over offensively when needed, and we have the makings of a contender.

If we did get the #2, I think I would prefer to get Thabeet over Rubio. Its not a knock on Rubio at all but I would prefer to get a guy like Thabeet and get a PG later in this draft or at another time then spend a #2 on one.

thabeet could end up mediocre, rubio has franchise pg written all over him.

I understand that. They are both boom or bust type of players, Rubio isn't a sure thing though he seems like he has less bust factor then Thabeet.

But Elite Pgs like Kidd, Nash, Paul, Williams never won a championship with there clubs. Late rd PGs like Parker & Rondo have though. You can also win without a stud PG, but unless you have Jordan & Pippen on your team you aren't going to win without a stud big man.

Thabeet may not be that franchise center at the end of the day, But he could be a piece that makes a franchise frontcourt.

Following the Orlando style a little, You have Thabeet who could attack the offensive glass hard, and patrol the paint on the defensive end, If we could spread the floor with 2 forwards that can drop 3s as well as play good man defense and allow Thabeet to go one on one for offensive rebounds where he can get his pts. Add that with a speedy PG that can beat his man off the dribble and draw defenders to create for everyone else, and a stud *scoring* that can take over offensively when needed, and we have the makings of a contender.

I love Ricky Rubio but if Walsh trades up to #2 -- I think it's to grab Thabeet.

If he gets himself to that spot --- Walsh wouldn't be able to live with himself if he passed on Thabeet and he became a major league defensive force in the league for +10 years.

When push comes to shove Walsh will go with the size.

I don't want that kid at all costs. He is soft as hell doesn't finish around the basket and is a floater. Eddie Griffin blocked everything in sight as well. Too much of a wild card. Especially after you picked Gallo last year. You can't **** up twice.

I think you'd have to take Thabeet, especially considering we haven't had any kind, not one bit, of a defensive presence in our frontcourt since Camby. That's a long time ago. It's time to change things up, and Thabeet would do just fine under D'Antoni too. Big men who rebound and block shots and play defense are A-OK in a fast break system.

wouldnt it be great if marbury ends up i memphis as part of a package deal for the pick? just sayin....

That would be funny. I think Marbury is an FA, though. I don't think he signed a multi-year deal with Boston. Maybe we can bring him back! (I'm just kidding, Allanfan! )

So you're turning into a Memphis fan, heh?

This is the time a good commish steps in.

Rubio could walk.

Rubio in NY, and a strong NY is good for the league.

Tv rating go up. Good for Heisley, good for the league.

Strong NY is good for Sterns expansion in the Euro market. Send NY to europe every fall. Good for the league.

Memphis tells stern what it needs. Stern gets together with his boys and they broker a deal that makse sense for the knicks, and for memphis. Nobody fleeces anyone

Same crap will be if Lebron wants to move to NY. He calls the Stern and the Stern gets with his boys so the Cavs as a franchise does not fall off a cliff. Either a public relations coo for some sort, but some kind of assistance. Remember, if Lebron leaves then the cavs have cap room of some sort!

It ain't perfect, but sterns job is to keep the league and its owners happy. Rubio stays in Spain nobody but his Euro team wins! There is enough top 10 players in the draft to make everyone happy.

If sac wants Evans they can swap with knicks, who swap the 4th with Memphis who gets Thabeet at the 4. Eveyone is happy! The Stern lets other teams to not tough Evans who goes at the 8. 4 down to 8 is not a salary killer for Evans. We give Nate to Sac for the inconvienence. We give our Exemption and the 4th to Memphis who saves money, gets rid of darko, and we get the 2.

Everybody gets what they want.

i'd just as soon stand pat then trade away Chandler to move up to #2... but if the deal is for our #8 & the Mobley contract where we only have to take back Darko's expiring off their payroll, then that's a no brainer.

& i'd take Rubio over Thabeet... & i dunno how anyone can say Gallo was a busted pick last year when the kid's only 20 damn years old & has already shown glimpses of being a very good perimeter shooter... i guess if Rubio doesn't come in & average 10 assists a game right off the bat he's a busted pick too? gimme a break.

You don't trade chandler for anyone. The kid is young, can shoot, jump, block shots and has the makings of a great player, he would be a senior this year, he is another 2-3 years away from reaching his potential and he already gets you 15pts a night

Even if we have to give up a first rounder in 2011 to get the deal done you move up to take Rubio.

Chandler certainly isn't untradeable, but I agree - I'd rather just hold onto Wilson and the #8 and come away with either Curry or Holiday. I would absolutely love Rubio in NY, but there's just so much uncertainty right now surrounding his buyout and the draft in general - I honestly believe we have the assets to get it done without Chandler/Gallo. If not, we still are in great position to get a quality guard.

Even if we can't move up to #2, it's just so damn refreshing to have a GM exploring ALL OPTIONS going into this draft. It's nice to be active when it doesn't cost you $16M for Zach Randolph and $18M in therapy.
