Sergio's deal expires at the end of this year. What would we be dealing to get a backup PG for one year? The 2nd round pick? The Mobley deal?

This would be super complicated with all of the NBA rules, but it could be Lee and the #8 for Outlaw, The Chacho, and the #24.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

No... article says draft day deal or June 25 and Lee cannot be resigned until the free agency period begins, which I believe is July 1 every year

Here's an idea -- I'm not sure what Marcus Williams is up to now but I think he's a FA (he went to Europe for a quick stretch before returning to the States to sign a small deal with the Spurs last April). Instead of trading away the #8 for Sergio Rodriguez and a bunch of low picks maybe just grab Williams on the cheap. He might have as much potential as Sergio when you get right down to it. Grab Marcus Williams and just keep the 8th pick. Again, I'm not relinquishing the 8th pick unless there's a strong package coming back.

I'm not so sure, I'd assume that we are trading the 8th pick in this deal Finest...

I take from this Walsh has no interest in trading up for Rubio.

with pick 8...Jrue or Derozan FTW

That would be pretty sweet...

I favor Jrue. When is the Jrue-Curry workout scheduled for?

[Edited by - McK1 on 08-06-2009 12:33 PM]

I'm not quite sure when that workout is.. someone said it recently, just forgot.

I'd love either one of those guys, I think both fit in very well with what we're trying to do. Holliday gives you more defense and Curry gives you more offense.. either work it works out.

Wednesday Curry comes in.

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2009/06/steph_curry_comes_in_wednesday.html

The Knicks will get a close-up look at Curry on Wednesday when he comes to the MSG Training Center in Greenburgh for his predraft workout. Curry will be joined by UCLA guard Jrue Holiday, whom the Knicks are also very interested in, as well.

But before Wednesday’s main event, Walsh and his staff will bring in six players on Tuesday to MSG’s Westchester campus for a workout. The lineup includes Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn and North Carolina guard Ty Lawson, along with Toney Douglas (Florida State), Tywain McKee (Coppin State), Dante Cunningham (Villanova) and Leo Lyons (Missouri).

why do you assme we're trading the 8 for Sergio and the 24.

NY has a trade exception

like dj said. its more than likely Sergio for the T.E. and a future 2nd

yea. Knicks are not moving the 8th pick in the draft for a guy who is a backup PG at this point..

Looks like Curry will not be there at 8. I would be happy with a sign and trade of DLee for Outlaw and Sergio. Then pick up Derozan with the 8th pick.

Sergio Rodriguez to the Knicks!

Mon Jun 08 12:28

June 25, 2009. Madison Square Garden. In that day will be held on 'draft' in the NBA. On that day officially announced the future of Sergio Rodriguez. Informally we can advance that, after three seasons in Portland, the canary will base another dream fulfilled in their promising career as a basketball player: dress shirt from the New York Knicks, one of the most prestigious teams in the NBA.

According to sources at the New York team consulted by Yahoo-Eurosport, the agreement was closed for 20 days between the Blazers and Knicks. As the player who does not wish to make statements on 25, go these days engaged in close daily affairs of what is going to be the everyday player in New York.

The coach of Italian origin, Mike D'Antoni has been the principal protector of the signing of "Chacho" by the Knicks. The team of New York is facing a transition period pending the 2010-2011 season, which wants to effect a coup with the signing of monumental Lebron James, who in the summer of next year will be free agent after its contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The hiring of Sergio, that molds perfectly to the type of game that would make New York with James would have collateral consequences for one of our large bases, Ricky Rubio, who would have no place in the team of Big Apple.

And closes the first stage of Sergio Rodríguez in the best league in the world. A period of light and shadows of the garden of roses, which have been mixed, but has made it clear that to Nate McMillan does not trust his qualities to lead the Oregon. In this last season, the player has participated in Canary 80 matches, including 13 as owner Steve Blake was injured when his shoulder. His averages were 4.4 points and 3.6 assists in 15 minutes. The straw that broke the glass came in the first round of the Play-Offs''''of the series against Houston, which averaged five minutes per game.

At the conclusion of the last game,''11''the Blazers said the newspaper "The Oregonian": "Here, I do not think I can do more. It is impossible. I do not know what will be my future, but I think it will something to happen, either a transfer or something. I believe in me and I feel I need a change. "

Said and done. The player's agent, Jose Ortiz, who had already had contacts with the Knicks and several teams in February, reached a settlement with the New York franchise for the next three seasons.

Meanwhile, the player continues in Madrid, trained under the command of Jack Cuspinera - technical students with the aim of improving the defense and change their shooting technique. The goal: to start the season at the top and leave feeling good from the minute in which one is going to be your new home: Madison Square Garden. Changing garden for one of our great players.

NYK, we do that and now you're cooking with gas.

Combine all of the latest rumors and you've got

El Chacho - Outlaw - The Mayor - The Rooster - Gortat

Derozan - Beaubois - Duhon - Al Jr - Hughes - Darko - Jeffries

That's an explosive team at least.

A couple more guys with nicknames and we'd be set.

Just to clarify how we would get those players...

Starting with
The Mayor
The Rooster
Jeffries
Al Jr
Hughes
Duhon

Draft Derozan #8
Use our trade exception and Lee to get Outlaw and Sergio
Use Q and Mobley's exception to get Darko and Memphis' late pick - use that to get Beaubois

That would be a fast bunch of shooters and the driving lanes would be wide open for The Mayor and Outlaw.

Sergio is an assist machine. He destroys guys off the dribble and creates so many open looks for guys. He's all passing. He would average more assists than Nash did under MDA. Would this mean we are trading down to get him? I this alot either way.

Also, wasnt he the guy that destroyed the US and everyone else when Spain won the Gold in the world champs 3 years ago?

Finally, if this happens I REALLY like that we targeted a guy we WANTED. The draft is a crap shoot and so is pick 8. Maybe you get the guy you want, maybe you dont. If MDA and Walsh look at the NBA tape and say this is the guy we want I like this move even more.

Give Gordat the MLE and let Lee walk or sign and trade we got better upfront and in the backcourt. Its a start

I can read spanish and from what I read, thats just another bogus rumor like many we've seen before. It doesn't state exactly how the Knicks get Sergio Rodriguez. It goes on to say the Knicks will hand him a 3 year contract extension. Just like everything we've read about Rubio to the Knicks, its all rumors and the best thing would be to wait and see.

Portland gets the 8, we get the no. 2.

DLee is gone. The rest I don't know.

Rubio is gonna be a knick.

How do we end up with the 2nd pick?

The Spaniards wouldn't mess around like that, they're not running the Daily News over there.

If they have a hunch or a hint or something, better believe it's with reason. Plus, Sergio likely vacations in Spain in the off-season...with it being his home and all.

I don't think pick 8 is going to be included unless we are getting back something else from them. As DJ said before, I think this will end up being a future 2nd rounder and one of our trade exceptions.
