Pardon me. The gamble is whether Bayless OR Fernandez is = to a top 8 player in this draft, plus you get a 24 & 33 out of the deal.

The Blazers scenario would be this...

Draft goes;
1 - Griffo the bust
2 - Rubio
3 - Evans
4 - Thabeet
5 - Derozan
6 - Harden
7 - Holiday

Then, if the Knicks are sitting there and they aren't sold on Curry after he gets whipped in his workout against Holiday, you'd be looking to deal him to the Blazers.

We have the expirings to bring back almost anything.

Sergio, Outlaw, Batum, Bayless and Fernandez would all be interesting players along with the Blazers #24 pick.

I think I would ask for Batum and pick the best point guard still on the board at 24.

Bayless is a nice player, but I don't think he's accurate enough from deep. Fernandez is OK, but Chandler isn't a player that drives enough. You would have all spot up shooters and would need a drive and kick player at the PG. I'm not sure that player will be available at 24. Maybe Beaubois.

Beaubois
Fernandez
Chandler
Gallo
Darko

Lawal
Duhon
Harrington
Hughes

would be an interesting team, (assuming the Memphis deal) but not my cup of tea

rudy is megaoverrated - as are most of the blazer spare parts...

bayless couldn't get any of steve blake's minutes...

rudy is, and I said this on realgm many times.. of course you know many of the young posters over there didn't like it, because rudy was the "new" toy to fall in love with.. the guy is often outof control and takes jamal crawford type shots..

bayless can't shoot, and isn't a very creative passer...

I pass on those two for now...

Would love to get Webster, I feel he will be a Glen Rice clone, and perhaps his mkt val is down now.

And why isn't Outlaw considered to be a better player? Every time I see him, I think (if given enough shots) he's more or less the same player as Rudy Gay.

That is a horrible deal even with Bayless coming back. Not only do you take yourself out of the lottery but the mid first round too and get back a late 1st round pick and only a 2nd round pick. I would need more considerations from the Blazers part like another 1st round pick.

What team is that??? The Lithuanian National team???? SMH, I really get the feeling the Knicks want that team too.

And ROFL @ Griffin being a bust. The Kid is 6'10 and probably the most athletic/skilled Front court to be in the draft since KG!!!!!!!!

yeah, I don't like the Portland trade idea either - we'd end up with a crazy collection of OK global players

Just going to make this point again that I've been making since the college basketball season started...

Griffin is not 6'10"

Take a look at the combine measurements and come back with a factual post. The dude is 6'8" and he's supposed to be a power forward... a number one pick power forward.

Do you remember a day when we had a collection of 6'8" power forwards and how dominant they were? Sweetney, Rose, Mo Taylor, all of those amazing talents.

Griffo is not going to be worthy of the #1 pick. He'll top out at Milsap level production. Write it down. Not worth the number one pick. He's got the same vertical, same height, same reach as Psycho T. One's going #1. One's going number 30.

Don't buy the hype.

not for nothing, but Kemp, Weber, McDyess, Brand, KMart all measured within an inch of Griffin. And Griffin seems as athletic as any of them.

6'8.5" without shoes and 6'10" with. Dont know how you can lump him in with Sweets, Rose, MoT, etc.

Yeah, the first deal is just lowballing our assets. Bayless was an 11 pick and he hasnt really shown much so his stock has slipped and who gives a damn about a #24 or a #33, thats too much of a crapshoot.

So Fernandez would have to be included...I dunno, if you believe in whomever you're going to pick I'd rather keep it, 'cause I dont see Fernandez being much more than an exciting role player. He's a fun to watch, but he's not a true baller, thats going to help you win a chip.

I just don't see the guy developing Webber/McDyess/KMart type skills that will allow him to score from the elbow.

Also, the guy never played D at Oklahoma. He claims that it was because the coach didn't want him to get in foul trouble. That would make me nervous drafting him number one.

At the end of the day, the Clippers could actually get it right with him because they have a unique situation with very skilled players at the 4/5. You could actually play Griffin at a 3 position on defense and have him play around the basket on offense. However, being the Clips in all their wisdom, they will probably trade ZBo or Camby and make that impossible.

Another problem with the guy is that he seems injury prone. He's had the knee problems. He jogged his 40 time in the combine because he said his back was hurt. For a guy who is undersized and will have to depend on his athleticism... that ain't good.

Also, Shawn Kemp was actually 6'10", but is a good comparison because unless he develops a jumper Griffin is going to have to play like a young Kemp to be a star on offense. Good luck becoming the player Kemp was on defense on the Sonics.

Call me crazy, I just don't like the two popular players in this draft, Curry and Griffin.

You know I don't agree with you about Curry, but I do agree with you about Griffin. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him, but I'm not so sure all this hype is going to translate into a cornerstone franchise player. I'm ALWAYS wary of guys coming out of the Big 12.

BTW, I am getting my stats from: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/

Kemp listed at .25" taller than Griffin.
