I think it would take a lot more than that to get Vince. The Cavs are a good team. That pick would be around 25 to 30. And are the Clippers giving up on Zach already? IMO re-signing Verajao and giving Sheed the MLE are the only realistic options there. And Sheed will have his choice of destinations. I'm sure the Celtics, Spurs, Mavs, etc. would all give him the MLE.

i don't know if zach is what the cavs need..kind of a desperation thing there...zach is just a loser.

if they can get vince, that's a different story. vince has a good years left in him, at least, i think and he would be the perfect 2nd guy that defenses have tow orry about. he's worth 10 mo williams.

Yeah, if the Cavs problem is hitting shots, Zach won't help.

yes he would. Zach in the post with LeBron and shooters around him is like Orlando.

Like Orlando? Orlando has a low post scorer who refuses to share the ball with teammates?

The only problem with that though Martin is that we've seen all too often that Zach likes to shy away from that post and play 18+ ft out. LeBron is a good leader and captain, but I'm not even sure if he could keep Zach from going into his Mebury routine.

not for nothin' Bonnie but do you even have a point?

Howard is obviously a MUCH better defender than Zach, but at the beginning of this year Zach was sharing the ball nicely when on the Knicks, and I am sure you caught as many LAC games as I did this year.

What's the TO, Assist numbers for Howard and Zach last year? Career?

We all know that stats dont show the whole picture but Zach's were better, and he had suck for teammates.

Taking that into account, what's your point?

That's true, and he shoots too many 3 point shots. But what are CLE's options? They need another scoring threat and their best option is to fill it at the PF spot and that means either Brand or Zach (I think).

Zach is definitely a wild card in so many ways: salary, how good of a teammate he can be, etc. But the Cavs aren't gonna all of a sudden get better with the same teammates and I think ORL and BOS will be better next year.

It's a risk the Cavs are going to have to weigh.

Oh, I definitely agree with it being a risk that they may have to take.. no doubt about that. I guess I'm just saying I don't see it working out, but hey, like you said.. they put themselves in that position.

cavs have $35 mil in expiring contracts this summer.

they have 2 options:

1. convince lebron to stay and utilize cap space in 2010 to bring in his robin
2. trade those expirings this summer, take on deals but improve the roster big time

a quick example if they go route #2:

- trade expiring for vince and future first
- trade expiring for zach and future first
- re-sign verejao
- throw MLE at sheed

if i were the Cavs i'd seriously target Zach, Camby & Michael Redd this offseason... they MUST go all in for a championship next year & all 3 of those guys are imminently attainable for not too much in return... even if the experiment fails & Lebron leaves in 2010, they'll still have enough left over to be at least somewhat competitive in 2010 w/the remaining vets, & then their contracts would come off the books giving them enough cap space to target a big name in 2011.

Vince Carter wouldn't fit in well w/Lebron, he's more of a slasher... Redd would be like his Ray Allen... add a low post scorer, a spot up shooter & a defensive shotblocker to that team & they're a championship team.
