I could see Sacramento offering him 5 yrs 25 million and put people in the seats.
why wouldnt we match that? You have your backup PG and scorer off the bench. The guy does more than put on a show.
because there's practically a dozen 2010 FAs who are better than Nate.

Sac town would love Nate. They need more scoring from the pg position and have soured on Udrich. They supposedly were willing to take Nate and Jeffries bad contract at the trade deadline, so you know they would consider making him an offer. We should look into a sign and trade deal with them. If they draft James Harden or Evans, we should look to trade Nate for one of those players.

Lebron, Nash, bla bla bla... dont look for anything of substance.

List me the guys who will give you 18/5/4 off the bench that will cost you about $5mm a year and be your backup PG as well

it's hard to name many, and i think many people would be pushing for donnie walsh to sign nate if he was a free agent from another team, this much we know..it's funny how he can't fit in and stay.

I'd love to get Outlaw but I don't see that happening, not with Webster coming back off the stress fracture in his foot that kept him out basically all season. If Portland wants Nate, I want either a package built around Bayless OR their 24th and 32nd picks. We can get good players with those picks - with #24 we could grab a PF like Taj Gibson or maybe even a DeJuan Blair if he slips, a nice 2nd tier PG like Holiday or Mills or a big, strong NBA-ready wing like Young or Summers. And with #32 we'd have our pick of the litter with some of the talented shooting guards out there like Meeks, Christmas, Taylor, etc. Either scenario is good value for Nate.

I want the opportunity to land at least one if not two of these guys. I don't have the crystal ball Fish has--so maybe I simply am naive in believing that the chance that we get any of them is higher than 0 percent. If we do get Lebron or another top tier FA (it does not have to be Lebron--I bolded that just for you Fish), then I'm definitely happy to add a veteran. That's why I've included some guys who will be past their primes but still definitely better than Nate. I believe we'll be able to get at least one very good young FA from this list and complimenting him and the rest of the roster with a very good veteran would be fine with me. 2010 is the year we enter "win now" mode.

Lebron
Wade
Bosh
Stoudemire
Yao
Dirk
J. Johnson
Artest
Rudy Gay
Michael Redd (if he shows that he's able to bounce back from injury)
Richard Jefferson

Ben Gordon
Marvin Williams (Restricted)
Rajon Rondo (R)
Tyrus Thomas
Luis Scola (R)
Marcus Camby (maybe--depending on his health and performance next season)
Randy Foye (R)
Hedo Turkoglu (maybe--depending on his health)
Andre Miller (maybe--depending on his health and performance next season)
Steve Nash (maybe--depending on his health and performance next season)
Udonis Haslem (I'd take a hard-nosed, team-first player over Nate but I know this is probably controversial. It depends on what we do with Lee too.)
Lamar Odom
Shaq
Aldridge (R)
Roy (R)
Milsap (R)

That's still over 20 if you exclude all the restricted FAs. If Nate is just gonna be an energetic 6th man spark, I don't view that as being worth missing out on the above players.

if the Knicks do a sign and trade with nate and #8 for bayless, pryz and #24....the knicks could end up with a dude like Tyler Hansborough, lol!!! that means no more David Lee, lol...maybe you do a similiar deal and get more players and picks.

Why the hell would you give them Nate Robinson AND our number 8 pick for Bayless, Pryz and #24??? Thats a god awful deal. Just trying to give away assets out here.

So basically you're saying in 2010 not one player will sign with another team?

I'm sorry buddapaw, but I am hardly dreaming about Rudy Gay. Slow down the pessimism just a bit.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I could see Sacramento offering him 5 yrs 25 million and put people in the seats.

Good riddance.

Nate doesn't deserve that...He is a good kid that just beginning to reign in his game...He will improve and help someone as a scorer off the bench...Think you guys are selling him short a little and he can be had for on the cheap...

Gotta respect the fact that he wants to play for someone he thinks is gonna win...

He wants to play for Portland becuase it's the closest franchise to his home. If he wanted to play with someone that was going to win he'd be signing with the Cavs or the Lakers for the MLE.

i'd rather wait a year & sign Nash to a contract than lock up Nate for the next 6 years... that's just off the top of my head... i'm sure there'll be other candidates to fill Nate's role including whoever we draft this year in the lottery... Walsh needs to trade Nate for a draft pick in 2010 cuz he already missed the boat for this one... can't just let this guy walk w/o getting something back in return.

I'm just tired of people throwing out all these names as if this is soccer where teams can buy whatever player for whatever price. There are rules, not only that they can get paid way more from their current team. Factor in the current state of the economy, players may not want to leave money on the table just play for the Knicks.

I would not hesitate to keep Nate around for $5 mil per. The little man is a pure shot of energy for the team and can score with the best in the league, $5M/year is a more than reasonable contract. Even if you don't see him as a long term option, you can still move him later on without being hampered down by the contract.

If a team like Sac were to offer Nate $25M for 5 years, I think it would be a best case scenario for NY in trying to tie up some loose ends this off season.

Nothing wrong with anyone wanting to be close to home...Portland is winning as well...Portland is some maturity away from contending...

So, like NYK said, you're basically saying not one 2010 FA will sign with another team.
