i've heard conflicting reports... some media sources say the 2010 FA class will include Nash as 1 of the big names, & Hoopshype has it being a team option for next year... other people have been saying Nash can opt out himself & become a FA this year... i don't see why he would tho... $13 mil is a lot to give up at his age... he can still easily get a MLE contract in 2010, why would he leave that money on the table if he didn't have to?

From what I've now read, it looks like there is a team option for Phoenix and that $8m of his salary is guaranteed. That would mean that Phoenix would have to be in an all out save money mode to opt out of Nash's contract because it will still cost them $8m to not have him play. I don't see Nash as a viable option in 2009.

So 8th pick... I hope Curry is there...

Griffin
Rubio
Thabeet
Hill
Harden
Jennings
Derozan
Curry

I don't think we can end up with a bad selection.

Nice thread. I'd love to see the Knicks swing a deal with Memphis for the number two.

Not sure what we could really give them that is better than what they have. Clearly they have to hope that the Clips take Ricky and they get Blake. But assuming the other way around, w/o the ability to sign and trade for the draft, our tradeable assets are really limited to Chandler, Gallo, the 2012 draft pick and expirings. Not sure if Chandler and our pick get's this deal done, especially since they have Rudy Gay. But who knows. I wouldn't expect them to make a move until after the Clips pick. The Clips on the other hand might be wheeling and dealing. Baron doesn't seem to be working out. Randolph puts up numbers and bad shots. Camby has been injured. Kaman has been injured. Gordon really has been the only bright spot. I think they have to seriously discuss trading the pick to get more out of this draft. Adding Griffin doesn't really help them. And adding Rubio only helps if they can move Baron. They are pretty much on a 2012 plan...

The best I could come up with was Chandler, Mobley and #8 for Jaric and #2. Like you said, Chandler is duplicative of Rudy Gay. However, including Mobley makes this deal a salary dump for a potentially cost conscious team in Memphis.

Take Mullens 8

Resign David Lee

Go back to Sacremento and offer them Nate in the same deal they would take Jefferies
Offer the LLE to Morris Almond--put him on the SL team but show the love and the intention to sign.
Offer the MLE to Steve Nash

Try to acquire a second pick at 14 from Pheonix using a 2012 top 10 protected 1 and 3mm in cash and grab the best PG available also buy one of Minnesota's second round picks and take either Demarre Carrol or Jeff Pendegraph

I don't understand why Nash would sign for MLE. He is due money from the Suns that is double the MLE, again why would he pass that up to sign for MLE with the Knicks? I guarantee you if you want Nash the Knicks will have to trade for him and that is only if they don't want him. You know Suns want him there.

If the Suns somehow decided to waive him, $8m of that $13M contract is guaranteed. It is understandable if Nash came back to D'antoni to try an win another MVP. But, I don't see the Suns waiving him unless they really decide to re-build now instead of waiting for 2010 to come and pass. But they took on the contract of JRich, I don't see them letting Nash go without getting something in return.

Suns aren't waiving their franchise PG just to save $5 mil, let's get real here fellas... you're gonna have to offer them some serious incentive to do it, & we don't have anything to offer unless u plan on giving up that lottery pick.
