Soooooo.... Nate, Lee, Harrington, Chandler, and Gallo would all be monsters in the playoffs?

Sooooooooooo.... why didn't the Knicks make the playoffs then?

Glen Davis was beasting in the playoffs... do u think he's a better player than those guys? i don't... don't look at things w/such a narrow scope... yes, we all know this team sucks... that doesn't mean we don't have some good players.

Everyone that replied to me made good points but this is the one I want to reply to.

If the Spurs had David Lee next to Tim Duncan? Of course Lee would be beasting in the playoffs. If Chandler was coming in off the bench for the Cavs? Of COURSE he'd be beasting. If Nate was in off the bench for the Lakers? Of course he'd be great. Hey, even if Harrington was in off the bench for the Nuggets he'd look damn good.

Yet, look at OUR roster when you say these things. None of these guys are playoff performers for if all five mentioned in this thread were, and you can make a traditional lineup out of the five mentioned, WE WOULD BE IN THE PLAYOFFS.

LOL?

Okay, one more point: Samaki Walker, perhaps one of THE WORST players to ever play the game, was a starting PF on a championship Lakers squad.

What does this tell you?

It tells you that you may pencil in one single player on any powerhouse team and they would "beast in the playoffs".

It's really a ... well, without trying to be offensive, a topic without merit. You could put any one of us on some of these past championship teams and they still win.

So I just don't get the line of thinking....

But then it's a pointless thread....as I said, you can place any current Knick in that Samaki Walker Laker championship team, and they would "excel".

So what's the point?

Again, this thread has stated that five Knick players would excel in the playoffs. Okay, Five players. FIVE!

C-Lee
F-Harrington
F-Gallo
G-Chandler
G-Nate

Okay, we had these five players. So....why did we not make the playoffs?

This is the problem I have with threads like these. We put our own players on a big time pedestal but refuse to understand why they won 32 games.

According to this thread, consolidating posts and opinions, I just posted a big time playoff performing roster.

So, something does not add up. What is it? The fact that outside of Al Harrington this team has NO certified playoff performers on it.

again, ur thinking in a very narrow scope... it's a simple hypothetical question & u almost misread the question to mean would this TEAM excel in the playoffs as currently constructed... obviously this team sucks, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out... but we do have some talented players... gimme a break w/the Samaki Walker examples dude... he wouldn't even get playing time on the Knicks' squad.

That's why I hate reading at times......its just a hypothetical question...."so why aren't the knicks in the playoffs?" come on now.

Truth be told if Al harrington was on Utah/Portland/Miami and especially New Orleans they may have stood a chance...Nate could have helped any of those teams as well.

Thing you guys are trapped into thinking only what you see as a Knick. Different system and better players make fore different roles. Right now Al Harrington and Nate are the Knicks "go to" guys. On a good team they are 3rd options. Make no mistake they would have helped any team I mentioned.
BTW, ask yourselves this question.....could David Lee survive in a series as physical as the Bulls/celtics or denver/New Orleans or any of these series for that matter???? HELL NO!!!! David Lee is soft. I hear the word beast being used....oh yeah then the same way you trashed Nate and Al....if David Lee was such a beast, "why didn't the knicks make the playoffs!!!"

If Jerome James and Jared Jefferies could do well in the playoffs, anyone can. It's all about your mindset. Nate and Harrington can have huge scoring games and Lee and grab 20 rebounds and score 15 points. Gallo we don't know, but he can probably hit a lot of 3s any given game. Same with Q.

They can all do well. If they were placed on good teams and those teams wanted them to specifically do what they do now, they would be OK. With that said, they aren't in the playoffs b/c they make a bad team.

It's a hypothetical question, is correct. It has just as much meaning as the fantasy trades.

i second both emotions--

another Knick that would excel is Chris Duhon. He is a proven court general and if it wasn't for that wear-and-tear late in the season, he would make a fiiiiiiiine playoff leader. has a very cool head. ice cold.

Nah, I got the gist of it, and any of them could do well on a playoff team because playoff bound teams are good and yes each of the mentioned are at the very least semi-talented players and would excel in the proper environment.

As a team - it's the same old story - we have a handful of talented players but as a team they are a failure because they just do not work well together. The fact that we could list a minimum of five players who would be potential playoff performers but yet our team missed the playoffs badly just shows how poorly rounded these individually talented players are.

It's a pretty poor hypothetical question as pointed out by others than myself. There is a lot of gray area to consider in such hypotheticals. I posted such feeling in the previous post.

As for me thinking in a narrow scope I certainly do but I'm not naive.

Overall, despite the fact we still have a roster of individually talented players who do not comprise a winning team does not frustrate me. The plan is in place and we still have a good 15 months left of tearing down the mess that Isiah assembled.
