And basing on what Walsh has done.. he got rid of 2 guys who were playing well, but were really hampering our cap for 2010. To me that tells me he's making capspace for 2010. I don't see how it can be viewed any other way.
MDA and Walsh were also talking up Curry and Q and Nate and Lee and Crawford and Zbo.
Phar, your logic is way out there man.
How is my logic way out there because I refuse see some hidden meaning in D'Antoni and Walsh's words that you and others want someone to believe. Because I take Walsh and D'Antoni at their words when they say they really like someone.
"He really knows how to play basketball and that's what we need," D'Antoni said following the Knicks' late afternoon practice at Skidmore College. "At 6-foot-11, 250 pounds, that spells center to me. He's big, runs the floor, great defensive player and he passes the ball." Daily News, 10/3/08
NYKnicks.com: Is there anybody who has surprised you so far from what you've seen?
D'Antoni: Jared Jeffries. He's surprised me. He's been a lot better than I thought.
NYKnicks.com: What about Jared has caught your eye?
D'Antoni: With Jared, it's just his versatility. He can really see the floor and he's got a lot of skills. Chris Duhon has done really well, too. He never gets tired and just keeps running.
NYKnicks.com: Duhon was actually the first big free-agent signing of your era. What about him attracted you to him and fit into your plan of what you want to establish here in New York?
D'Antoni: He's a pass-first guy. Also his speed, defense and ability to push the ball.
"In a week or so, when he gets rolling, I expect energy defense, really being a glue," D'Antoni said. "He's a real smart player. He'll keep David Lee's energy up. They played great together in camp. I want to see that again. And it trickles down the line. We won't have a dropoff when teams put in their energy guys." - NY Post 12/5/08
So it just about 2010, heh?
Perhaps the biggest move the Knicks made today was a transaction they didn’t make. With eyes around the league fixed squarely on cap space for the free-agent class of 2010, Knicks President Donnie Walsh reportedly passed on an offer from the Sacramento Kings that would have rid the roster of Jared Jeffries and the team’s $6.8 million obligation to him for the 2010-11 season.
The deal would have come at the expense of the NBA’s 2006 and 2009 Slam Dunk Champion, Nate Robinson, himself a restricted free agent at the end of the season. So let me get this logic of yours straight. They big up his trade value only to not trade him. Ok.
