Either David Lee or Lee's agent is very stupid. The guy is staring 50-60mm in the face--there is no doubt he hurt that knee last game--yes he had a good game but he was hurt late in the game--why would you risk a basket full of cash on the last two games? Are you out of your mind?

u might be looking for a different thread w/that one.

the nba product is absolutely terrible. it takes a back seat to football and serves as a very bland appetizer to baseball. it's basically unwatchable at this point.

that's only cuz the teams u like suck... i'm pretty sure Lakers, Cavs & Celtic fans have no problem w/how the NBA game has progressed.

I'd say it runs deeper than that... true, dj's teams (past and present) suck donkey balls. But the market is over-saturated with an inferior product. Too many teams, too many games, too much postseason. I mean, I watched The Masters instead of Bos/Cle today and basketball is my favorite sport. Baseball is over-saturated with games in the regular season and is a terrible TV product, but lean in the playoffs and has a much larger player base. Really the only thing football could do better is generate international appeal, but if ain't broke...

And the officiating is horrible and overtly biased towards 'star players'.

Being a ruffian in the paint does not mean a good product. Basketball should be fluid and beautiful to watch.

When NBA players were allowed to run "disciplinarian" coaches out of the league, the tough guys went right along with them.
I just hope that people will like me

Its difficult to do what Oak did in today's NBA. Oak was a thug at times and that doesn't hold water these days as punishment levied today is much greater. Especially after the Malice in the Palace everything is scrutinized by the league and trust me when I say this Oak would have toned down his aggressive play had the rules been the same then.

Ben Wallace?

He's what you call a throwback pansy.

He was good for 2 years, and that's it. He's a bum.

Tennis should be fluid and beautiful to watch; particularly those Venus sisters and your occassional hot Russian girl without panties under that skirt.

Basketball is an athletic event; athletes train for strength, speed and endurance. You want nothing but fluid beauty? Watch a lay up line (aka the current Knicks defensive schema). I doubt anyone on here is advocating a return to sludge ball and stadium riots, but the hard foul, drawing offensives and the moves created to avoid those are something that should never be removed from basketball. Blocks, dunks in severe traffic, and the sometimes ugly, insane relentlessness it takes to win at the NBA level is what makes it a great sport to watch.

You want nothing but fluidity and beauty? Watch ballet.

Football can be graceful and beautiful to watch. Linemen bang, sure, running backs get tackled, sure, wide receivers receive brutal punishment after a catch-- sure; but what if one of those receivers was to receive a brutal, primordial tackle at the knee joints? That is not graceful but at the same time very 'tough'.

I am not denying the physicality of basketball. I am against excessive 'tough-guy acts', a la Bill Lambier.

A sport can be fluid and beautiful to watch even if it is physical. It is when excessive physicality (in the name of toughness) pervades a sport that I put my foot down. We need not Bill Lambiers and Charles Oakleys to have a good sport, a good time watching a game. We need the SPORT itself to shine-- which, after all is said and done, comes down to putting the BALL in the HOOP!
