Ricky Rubio is declaring - I think it's a pretty safe bet he'll be the pick.

I would chose him to run the Knicks ANY day!!!
Like Fish suggested at least watch some vids before you bash the kid. No offense intended, but your comment just sounded like you simply read his stats.
As a last note, I dont think we will be in position to get him, cause NO doubt hell be selected Nr.2!

If you go by shooting, there's no player in the lottery who is worthwhile.

Who's the last lottery player who had prototypical size who could shoot when he was drafted?

Not LeBron, Not Kobe, Not Wade.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Euro League stats Ricky Rubio

5 games played

13.5 minutes per game

avg 2.4 points 2.4 rebounds 2.8 assits steals 1.8 FG% 30% from 2 point range 29% overall

Euro League stats Branden jennings 16 games

19.6 minutes

7.6 1.8 1.6 steals 2.3 2 point range 46% overall 39%

I think this is a far-fetched fantasy this player will be starting NBA basketball any time soon.
He was coming from injury, which is easy to tell reading the minutes he played. In the ACB (the Spanish professional league) he averages 9.6 ppg (43% FG, 49% 3P), 5.8 apg (which is A LOT for European basketball, as assists ar not given the same way as in the nba) and 2 steals in about 20 mins per game.

I would love to see Rubio (which means "blonde" in Spanish) in the Knicks! He has been playing with pros for a long time, which is an advantade, and like you all said, he is a very good passer and defender. The only thing you are wrong about him is his shooting. He really aint very good at that. In fact its his weakest point, but obviously he will only get better.

But guys... its really difficult for anyone to be like Nash. We are talking about a 2 times MVP. Lets hope he is very good from the beginning and go from there.

BTW, Im not sure he has declared for the draft yet.

I mean, like, I don't think that Rubio is 20 times better right now, but potentially, yea, he could be 20 times better. At least 1.5 times better. He's just so fun to watch and crafty with the rock!

Best video on youtube about him.

Oh no, here we go with the youtube scouting. Every player looks good on youtube highlights. For example.

I rather take his play in the Olympics but even that's not a great indicator. Hell Carlos Delfino looked good over there.

Jose Calderon looks like he weighs 30 pounds + more than this guy and Jose is not going to overwhelm NBA guys with his strength. Jose is a good NBA player solid but certainly nothing in the class of great. the other two Spanish guards who are supposed to be world beaters --one barely belongs in the NBA the other is marginal.

When he averages 20 points 10 assists 5 rebounds in the euro league talk to me--otherwise this is a huge leap of faith. It is not given in any way shape or form that this kid will be great. If I put him on North Carolina c an even do what Ty Lawson did --no way in hll.

all euro picks are gambles. not to say US college players aren't also, but since there is a smaller pool of international players, it's tough to get a good read on how they translate into the nba.

rubio would be a risky pick. but when you look at this draft, outside of hgh boy, everyone else is risky too.

Skita was suppose to be the can't miss Pau but better according to D'Antoni back in 2002. From the limited amount of games that I saw in the Olympics, I think he can play in the NBA but he isn't worth turning over your roster to get.

BRIGGS, but you cant compare ACB to NCAA, and its not the first time you do. Rubio may be a bust or may not, but one thing is certain. You put Rubio in the NCAA and he would be probablt the best PG in there easily. Or to make my point even clearer: you put F.C. Barcelona in the NCAA and they would not even come close to lose a single game. And I dont like European basketball very much.

Darko had shown NOTHING in European basketball. He is the typical BUST just drafted because of his "potential". You can very well say the same about Lampe, or even Sergio Rodriguez, who, while he was ok in Spain, was a little bit overrated since day one.

Rudy is terrible misused in Portland, but not many people have Brandon Roy in their roster playing SG. Every case is different.

if we could be so lucky... A highly athletic 2 way PG who has played againt and wowed NBA players. He's big and long at 6'4 190 (6'5 220 in Briggs measurements).

He's so clearly the #2 pick I dont see how we have a shot. Our only change is MDA and DW convince him to not work out for anyone and threaten to sign in Europe if any team but NY picks him. It probably wont work but worth a shot

He's clearly the number two, but I think he'll be the best player in this year's draft. Griffin was an absolute stud this year, but he's a smaller guy who may sturggle to get his shot off a the next level, and I think it'll turn out like Durant/Oden or Beasley/Mayo, where the more talented guy falls because "you have to draft size." Rubio was an absolute stud in the Olympics and all the NBA all stars raved about him.

And I love Griffin. He was my choice for the Knicks to draft last year, if he declared. If Bip ever gets that search function together, I'm on record saying that... so, please, no one give me any BS about hating or disrepsecting Griffin.

You know what is funny--people dissing Griffin and calling him small. Lets see how small he is in the pros and how these *stronger bigger PFs will take care of him

Whatever. I'm not sure of his actual height, but if he's close to 6'7" all those uncontested shots he faced now become contested, and all those contested shots now get blocked. But, oh yeah, he's the second coming of Karl Malone, right

You mean the contested shots like when he is sitting 4 feet above the rim or hitting his head on the side of the backboard and finishing a dunk? The guys is an NBA PF super star in the making--there is no doubt--he is the real deal--the only and true pick 1 int his draft. If the Knicks were to get pick one and do something otherwise--they would put risk to the value of the franchise after 9 years of losing. At some point people will fail to show up.
