Add me to the people who are puzzled as to why you feel the draft is that big of a deal. That is not something that should keep you in the house, regardless of if its your girl's birthday or not. Just find out the results after-the-fact, and go from there.

SMH at watching Mel Kiper's hair for hours on end, while he screams nonsense. That stuff is for geeks, honestly.

If I wasn't into over-analyzing my sports teams I wouldn't be posting on this site.

Regardless of what it is that you want to do (e.g. - watch draft), perhaps you should switch roles and try to imagine what it would feel like if she wanted to do something similar. Maybe B-days are not big to you, so try to "feel" what it might be like regardless.

in all seriousness, does she realize and respect how much you want to watch it?

are you both willing to compromise? can you maybe find some way to "make it up to her?"

if this is going to be something "big" for you down the road and you give it up will it make you angry at/resent her? (which could lead to future issues).

2 years is a pretty good amount of time to be with someone, i think.

the tivo idea (if possible) could work.

not being there for someone's b-day because of something like this can really hurt someone's feelings.

relationships are very much about effectively communicating and making some compromises. you are both going to have your differences, i'm sure, but what can either of you accept.

in fairness, i don't know enough about what's up to say anything too strongly. good luck!

tell her you can’t wait to celebrate with her the moment her birthday starts. make her a blow out brunch with tons of cholesterol - eggs, meat, pancakes, the works. LOTS of champagne. then screw her like you never have before. and tuck her into your bed and tell her she gets to sleep ALL day on her birthday.

then go out to your couch and watch your draft.

win-win baby,

win-win baby,

There's something to this Marv. Good call. I'll set up a surprise party for her on Friday. Get her completely AllanFan'd and she'll be too hung over to do anything on Saturday.

Good looking out.

Marv wins!!!!!!!

Great Idea.

To seal the deal, when she wakes up and your done "servicing" her put a valium in her special champagne birthday morning drink-e-poo and she be out the rest of the day.

Just make sure she is not dehydrated from the previous evening, or has any problems with it cuz:
"girlfriend in a comma is serious".

Plus you'll be watching next years draft upstate with your new room mate!

Dude, jus get some the day before, or better yet that morning and cross your fingers.

If she's still with you by the end of the week, she's a keeper. If not, it was never meant to be.
