You'd select him, but I don't buy that he's going to be a superstar. You select him because of the rest of the league's value of him.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

this is confusing to me. If you are GM, you select Blake because all of the other GMs in the league think he is the best out there, not because YOU do?

What I'm saying is that I wouldn't want to be in the 1st spot if I were in complete rebuilding mode like the Knicks because I don't think Griffin is that piece that really helps you get to the next level, especially in the Knicks case where you run an offense that isn't a perfect fit. I'd probably try to leverage the pick and trade down a couple of slots.

If you're Washington, or the Clippers where you have stars but you're in the lottery because they've been injured and you need a garbage man, bruiser type... If I were their GM and I drew the top slot I'd be jumping for joy. Griffin fits those scenarios and if he can't shoot for a couple of years he can still be an asset.

The Knicks need their pick to do something that Griffin can't. Thabeet would anchor the defense and make the rest of the defense better. Evans and Derozan would fix a lot of our matchup problems that hamper us every game on both ends, and hopefully could anchor the offense. Rubio would completely change the look of the offense and from all reports would do what Hughes does on defense from the point position.

If we picked Griffin, he would slot into the center position and be a wasted talent to me. He'd be at a disadvantage on both ends with us unfortunately.

its like in business...very hard to pick a good team then pick the manager. you need to build from the top down in these scenraios because you want your role players to compliment your stars...i aqgree w you jw - it would be good if the knicksa already had their lebron, paul, wade, snoopy, etc so they can get people around them that are complimentary...

why do you slide Griffin into the center position? I wouldn't make that assumption myself.

I see him at the "David Lee Position" for the Knicks. How else would he fit at all?

If he played the 4, then you'd have to have a player like Radmanovich playing the 5 no?

If you can't shoot and you're in our offense then there's only so many places to put you and the other four guys on the floor would have to be able to shoot.

On the Clips, or the Wiz he could play the 4.

Shooting is always something that can be worked on, and you can always ask David Lee that. I agree that it's just like defense. If you're in this system and you can't shoot, you better have teammates who can shoot. But then again, if he can draw doubles and pass out of doubles, I guess that's something that you can look past for the time being, considering he's young.

I just like the fact that he's got some madness in him, seemingly and he plays with his head up.

That's how you build a team though. You're rarely going to get a guy who can do absolutely everything. If the guy can pass and play in the post and run the break and play defense, then I will live with it and try to get him some shooters (And a second scoring option) to pass to when he's doubled.
