on most mock drafts, they still have Derozan going in the mid-round.
yeah, but on those same mock draft sites he was a pre-season top-5 pick... last year DeAndre Jordan was a the third overall on nbadraft.net and DX. What happens is people get excited about young, athletic guys, and then when they play like young, inexperienced guys they get penalized.
The potential is there with DeRozan. The Knicks don't have a pick next year... so I'm all about swinging for the fences. He was great in the Pac-10 tourney
so where do you see him going?
We got into a debate about this the other day... TMS and BRIGGS thoguht he would get taken 3-7 because of his potential. I think the earliest he gets taken is five, but more likely than not the latter part of the lotto. SGs tend to fall in drafts because if you strikeout on the pick, you get a guy like Dajuan Wagner, because SG do one thing: shoot.
Harden is the consensus number one SG prospect (though I don't agree) and Henderson might get taken before DeRozan because he plays for Duke... These mock draft sites don't factor in one thing: team need. They're figuring more who is the best player.
I'll say he falls 7-15, but more likely to be 9-12 (if the ping pong balls fall where they should). Look at the lotto teams:
SAC: Martin
Washington: Young
Clippers: Gordon
Memphis: Mayo
OKC: Durant/Westbrook
Minnesota: Foye
Golden State: Crawful/Ellis
Toronto: need a SG
Indiana: Rush
Charlotte: need a SG/SF... so whoever they think best because Wallace is versatile and they have Bell
NY: need a SG of the future
Chicago: we got Hughes for a reason
Phoenix: Richardson
Really comes down to Toronto/Charlotte/us... so without knowing how the ping pong balls fall its hard to say... unless he explodes in the tournament.
