I think what you see is what you will get.

Improvement is going to have to come from having everyone together from the start, and any draft pick we might pick up in 2009.

We have seen some potential from this group- perhaps starting the season together will be enough.

I don't think the Knicks can afford to comeback with the same team.

Co-Sign with Franco. There will be some changes or additions but nothing earth shattering.

VMart have you still not come to terms with the fact that this season and next seasons rosters are not assembled to win games? They are assembled to rid us of Isiah's crap. When the time comes, Summer of 2010, the majority of the players on this and next years rosters will be purged. A handful of current Knicks are merely auditioning for the 2010-2011 Knicks roster.

I don't understand how and why this basic fact gets lost in the mix on the forums. You don't add players to this crap roster. You continue to purge this crap roster. Purging completion takes place July 1st, 2010. That's when you begin to build the new team.

If a piece comes along that you covet then you go out and get it and hold onto it until 2010 arrives to use as a piece to build the new team with.

You do not go out and panic and trade for players who extend beyond 2010 in an effort to salvage this disaster of a roster.

There is a plan in place and it is being followed to a T no matter how many fans are upset with losing they will not deviate from the plan.

So it's time to just sit back and wait it out like the rest of us.

I never had to come to terms with that because I always knew that the team isn't made for the future. There aren't any players on the roster currently that have proven they can carry a team and can lead the team. I don't believe in waiting for 2010 to do a overhaul of the roster because it really doesn't guarantee anything for the Knicks. They probably can move 2010 to this year and pick up players for the future. I personally would target players like Melo and Nash. This team needs players to build around and use 2010 to compliment these two players, with an eye on draft picks.

Well, the players here aren't meant to be made for the future. It's the scraps you get when you try to clean up Isiah's mess.

As to proving to lead or carry a team I think the few players auditioning for a chance to remain here beyond 2010 aren't being looked at as that but rather role players to the superstar plan.

As to moving up the date to build a winner? Given that we have ~50M in 2010 expirings some of whom are still decent players in al, duhon, the 09 pick, some young assets in lee, nate, chandler: If Walsh wanted to and it was there to be done he could easily pull the trigger on a Boston Celtic-esque sudden-rebuild scenario.

Those are rare though but if it were there we have the assets and would certainly do it if it made sense.

Yet, it's just unlikely, so unless(until) such an irresistible situation presents itself the current plan of liquidation will continue and fans are just going to have to understand the process and the inevitable time line involved in doing so.
