Well hopefully he gets the proper treatment and gets to participate in a full offseason and come back strong next year.

D'Antoni wasn't playing him that much anyway.

He got treatment for a full 6 months before he started playing minimal minutes for only 28 games. His back couldn't handle that much. What makes you think that he'll be 100% in another 6 months when training camp starts, much less participate in a full offseason?

Instead of bitching and moaning, I'm hoping for the best. I said HOPEFULLY he can participate in a full offseason program. That's all we can do. Go ahead and call the kid whatever you want, but I'm hoping for the best. Sorry for doing that.

No problem. I understand that all Knicks fans have at this point, for this kid not being damaged goods, is hope.

I mean obviously you wish his back wasn't messed up, but it is, theres no changing it. Crying about will not make his back feel better or anything, so I choose to just let it play out and hope for the best.

Wow, Isles post count is about to shoot up. He must be over joyed at the fact that Gallo is hurt and shut down. Just the thought of Knick failures is enough for him to be happy. When Knicks fans are feeling sad for the kid you have a character that is over joyed, all because he wants to be right.

Not good. I'm not surprised, in spite of assurances from Isles and Pharze I knew he was not right. But this is not good.

No no, the assurances were from that liar Mike D'Antoni. The coach who only gives lip service to doing what's right for his players.

No, I agree with you. We should only judge a coach on what he says to the press. And Gallo should have never been allowed to play limited minutes to see how he responds, that's irresponsible.

I'm glad we agree. Because I know when a coach says that they have to do what's right for a player's health and career, it's typically not a throwaway line to the press. At least it sure as hell shouldn't be because that would just be irresponsible.

it's actually good news. escalate the issue and deal with it. get a chance for effective treatment. it's pretty apparent that he was limited by the injury in what he could do on the court.

That's what I'm saying. We are not allowed to do this though Marv.

I grant you permission. and if you make it into the city today i'll buy you a green beer with a mermaid swizzle in it.

A MERMAID SWIZZLE?!?!?!?!

I'm there!

What were they doing from July to January?

apparently directing him to medical treatment which hasn't yet resolved the problem.

Who the hell is overjoyed? I'm pissed that we're stuck with damaged goods instead of a player the franchise can build with. Even before the draft I said that the 2008 and 2009 drafts were just as important as managing the cap and signing free agents. At a minimum they needed to draft 2 starters. Donnie Walsh himself said that they couldn't afford to screw up the pick. Now instead of having a starting center or shooting guard, we have to hope that this kid can be healthy by next year. It's another sick joke.

As a rational Knick fan, I think you have to plan on Gallo not being a part of any future plans unless its trade filler.

Could be worse- we could be stuck with Oden- though he may yet get and stay on the court.

there was no recorded history of any injury prior to th draft. for all we know donnie walsh made a fantastic draft pick who fell prey to a freak injury when whalloped by tractor traylor. s##t happens my friends. the boston celtivs made a fantastic pick in selecting len bias and he offs himself with cocaine before playing a single game. what are ya gonna do?

I'm encouraged by what we saw of the guy considering he obviously wasn't close to 100% during the time he played. I would've loved if he was healthy and got to play more- but circumstances are what they are.

len bias showed up to the celtics workout with powder on his nose. auerbach thought it was sugar from a donut.

gallo showed up to the knicks workout with a girdle. walsh thought it was to hold his man boobs back so he looks good in a dress shirt.

so i ask...were they really INNOCENT!?!?!?!?!

Bias was a great pick and the right pick because he was the best player available to the Celtics. The same can't be said for the Knicks and their decision to take Gallinari.

What the Knicks should have done was pick a player who wasn't such a question mark when there were other players who were better and actually filled a need.

Knicks New York Knicks rookie Danilo Gallinari's season could be over.

Gallinari left the team today for Italy and is again exploring whether to undergo back surgery, the Knicks announced this morning before practice.

Gallinari returned to the club in late January after resting for more than eight weeks as the club opted again surgery for the bulging disc in his back. Gallinari, who had a disappointing road trip, punctuated by going scoreless in Cleveland, saw a back surgeon in New York yesterday and is off to Italy to seek more opinions.

In a statement, the Knicks said, "Because Danilo has said his back is only 60 to 70 percent., we want to reconsider all treatement options, including surgery. Yesterday he saw a fourth surgeon in New York. Danilo has decided to travel to Italy to get additional opinions from Italian back specialists. He's leaving today and will return Monday at the latest.''

So true, and we all know the responsible thing would have been what you suggested, which is if he's going to play 1 minute than he should be playing "at least" 15 mins every night. Never let a player progress slowly the way doctors advise, do it harshly out of spite.

Good to see that he's ok to sit on a plane for 8 hours and is being treated far away from the Knicks medical crack committee.

Yeah but you never hoped for the kid. Once he put on the NYK uniform you never hoped success for the kid.

Gallo has seen a bunch of different doctors. All of them have been specialists and NONE have suggested surgery! They said try rest and therapy first. He hasn't gotten better and instead it's flaired up again, so maybe the diagnosis will be different. He hasn't been getting advice only from Knick team doctors.

I just want the kid to get the best treatment and come back healthy.
