Yeah, Lee needs to work on his rebounding for sure.

Its a moot discussion b/c Wilcox hasn't proven to have the work ethic to be David Lee. Even if he did, that he'd outrebound Lee is quite a feat for him. There aren't a lot of players in the league who average around 12 rebs...this year or any year.

Brian Grant. Danny Fortson. That's 2 off the top of my head. Throw out something else for me to disprove.

Its still relatively small percentage of players so I'm not sure what you are proving or disproving and Fortson averaged his 11.7 while averaging a cruddy 43% from the field, well behind the pace that Lee sets. He also only averaged double digit rebounds once in his career (Lee has already done this twice in 4 years, and nearly 3 years in a row). Grant never averaged close to 12 rebs- though he was actually a very good player derailed by injuries at various points in his career.

I think its fairly easy to say Lee is superior to Fortson. As far as Grant is concerned, he was a solid NBA role player+ for a bunch of years, his career is nothing to be ashamed of.

Danny Forton averaged 16 RPG in one season.
Fortson wasnt a good defender. He was a thug with no skills and had a short career. He also never had anything close to 16 rebounds.. he had 2 seasons where he was around 11-12rpg for terrible teams.

Also saying a talent gap is close between Lee and Wilcox is pretty lame. Its not playstation. Lee is so much better because he plays hard every night. Wilcox is a scrub because he doesnt. So what.. he had one decent season for the worst team in the league with no frontcourt. Lee is on the floot so much because he cleans the glass and scores a lot of points at 57%, and he does it every night.

If you want 'talented' guys lets get Isiah back. Curry, Frye and Marbury are talented. I will take the guys that play hard

Animal? I never see him pull down rebounds like I've been seeing Wilcox doing. I never see Lee make the timely rebound when we need him or a monster rebound in traffic. Lee is soft and is a phantom in the clutch.

then you don't see. open your eyes and watch. quit parroting the trendy haters and appreciate the guy for his vastly superior rebounding abilites. if you don't believe me go query the players in the league.

Chris Wilcox needs more minutes. He's a good finisher around the hoop, grabs some tough rebounds in traffic and plays better defense than David Lee(who doesn't?). Honestly, the talent gap between Wilcox and Lee is not that far off. Lee is a better passer and finisher since he's able to do it with both hands but if you gave Wilcox 37 mpg and ran the pick-and-roll, he would get you 15/10 too. Wilcox was hitting the mid-range jumper that year in Seattle where he averaged 15 ppg. If the plan is to sign Chris Bosh and draft or sign/trade for a defensive minded shotblocking Center, why would you waste $10M on Lee? With Bosh and defensive minded Center, you only need a Wilcox caliber backup PF/C. And Wilcox will not cost $10M. Right thing to do this summer is sign and trade Lee for assets that will help you get rid of Eddy Curry at the February 2010 trade deadline.

One thing I can say is that I don't really see Lee grabbing "tough" rebounds. Some players get rebounds when your team really really needs one. Zach was pretty good at that .... Lee - eh.

I just don't hear about him making big plays - money plays and grabbing that "tough tough" rebound. Someone mentioned his extremely quiet stat line from the Nets game I believe and those quiet games are not lifting this team. He disappears when playing against men.

I dissagree , wilcox needs to do what lee has done his whole career, and earn the chance to get big minutes and become a option.. lee has earned that.. that is the big difference.. wilcox shouldn't be given anything..

He put up 13 and 7 only last year in 30 MPG in a crappy offense dedicated to Durant shooting 60% of the time. He got traded for Rose because their both expiring and Wilcox wasn't going to play for a rebuilding team. Rose is there for a "veteran presence" like he was here. It's not like Wilcox is worth Rose. You forget he was traded for Tyson Chandler only 2 days before we got him.

Wilcox is not the epitome of hard work or anything else but when he does play hard there is not much of a gap there. David Lee is completely overrated. Works hard? Yeah, maybe at fluffing his stats. Where is that hard work on defense? I don't see any of it. This guy is looking to get paid first and foremost. Sure, all NBA players are but this guy could care less about playing D if it's gonna cost him a rebound. David Lee needs to be traded.

you can stop right there at the bolded part.. after that, he doesn't even deserve to be compared to lee..... why do we want that type of player around here?

Though he did get the 11+ rebs on other time early in the lock shortened year in Denver. He was never that good though he did fall off a quick pretty quickly partly due to injuries as well.

I would take young Forton or young Grant over Lee, no question. Call me crazy but I actually appreciate a guy who can play defense and those guys did so very well. They also rebounded the ball very well. Their expertise wasn't scoring and it isn't Lee's either. Lee is not some sort of dominant scorer where it makes up for his terrible defense.

Brian grant, I can see.. Fartson? Please!!!!

This is actually a huge marketing deal with Pizza Hut. Gallinari's going to eat Pizza Hut every day over the summer, Pizza Hut will be discretly filming this-- because Gallinari won't KNOW he's eating Pizza Hut. He'll think it's just some fine Italian cuisine. And then, BAM, Pizza Hut delivered the food!
