Im going to go easy on Curry. His child was just killed. Yea, he should be trying his best, but lets not kick someone when there down.

At least somebody gets it

The mentality around here is whats truly scary. The man's infant daughter was murdered and all people want to do around here is insult the man and whine about basketball.

Yeah, he has been a flawed talent for us, but ya'll need to put things in perspective and have a heart. Basketball isnt that damn important.

The sentiment against Eddy Curry is whats really keeps free agents away. NY fans can be classless and selfish.

Oh, I'm sorry... I forgot that before his driver accused him of playing flash the weewee and his ex-gf and child got murdered, he was busy being in the best shape of his life, right?

What's really scary is this never-ending, typical victim mentality that gets aired on here from time to time: it's never my fault, please give me a break and don't be hateful at me because I'm really a great person on the inside i just have big bones and an eating disorder that my mother forced on me and my dad never loved me properly and I'm forced to compensate by running up huge charges at Casual Male and saying pointless things to the press because I haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up... @ over $9 million annually.

I suppose you'd cry if EatsomeCurry offered to give a portion of his salary back?

Classless and selfish. Yet athletes don't mind cashing those checks funded from the tickets all those classless and selfish folks buy.

Say What?

jrodmc - are you really certain about that superficial description?

I don't recall anyplace where Eddy Curry said something was not his fault. If anything, he appears to have become more withdrawn from the attention. Quite possibly something he never understood dating back to high school

Rather than the dismissive broad anti-pro athlete strokes, perhaps you could consider them on a case by case basis.

Then again, Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens lied in front of the entire congressional subcommittee.

Put Another Way

jrodmc - consider this angle for a minute. Just a minute.

(now take deep breath)

If someone recognized you as the biggest kid on the block, and were willing to coddle and engage you at a line of work you really weren't passionate about, but were able to be promised a career, would you consider it?

If, somewhere along the way, another person offered you the promise of millions of dollars to stay with that career, despite your better instincts, would you stick around to see what happened?

Then, if another person offered you (at age 19) MILLIONS of dollars to perform at that job, even though you are STILL not convinced it is your calling, would you sign on the dotted line?

What would you have learned along the way?

I agree that family comes first. With that said, he's making millions and getting sued and needs the millions A LOT more now. You'd think he'd motivate himself to work himself in shape so he can make more millions to say the least.

What happened with his child and ex gf was horrible, but he can still keep himself in shape. And NOW he's with the Knicks again. He HAS to keep himself in shape, for his sake and the sake of the Knicks. He needs it for his health, he needs it if he wants to get another contract without worrying about losing all of that money and we need it for obvious reasons. This isn't being insensitive. This is being factual.

Dont disagree with this at all. He seems undisciplined and prone to lapses. I'm not ready to hand him the professional of the year crown. But the tragedies he has had to deal with trump a game of basketball.

Yeah, we can dump his contract and sign Lebron or whatever --- But Curry's child and baby moms will still be dead. Some people need to check themselves cause they are coming across as sociopaths and lunatics. This talk radio, frothing-at-the-mouth mentality is out of control.

Jealous ass haters get no love.

He has NOT ONCE come into camp in shape. At least not for us. NOW, he's entering a Summer with lawsuits and MAJOR family issues coming at him in all directions.

We desperately need to get his contract off the books and we really need him on the court at the start of next season all the way to the trade deadline. If he comes into camp in worse shape than last fall, then there's no way he's ever going to get on the court. It's entirely possible too with what I mentioned in the first paragraph.

If I were the Knicks, I would order him to stay in NY for most of the Summer and have the trainers monitor him heavily. He has important family issues, but he can keep himself in shape too. There's never a reason not to when you're a pro athlete. And now, it's flat out immature of Curry to be in the shape he is. So if he's going to act like a child, he needs to be treated like a child.

In the words of James Hettfield, "Sad but true".

There is absolutely no chance that Curry comes into camp next year in shape. Its an impossibility. You would think that he would understand that his knee problems are going to get worse if he continues to be over weight, but he just doesn't get it.

Yep, sighting Black Swans is one thing, but Curry being in shape at start of season is sheer science fiction.
