We should not tank, but we should play Samb, Gallo, and Chandler more. Give these guys some minutes and let's see what we have for next year.

I'm not talking about the players throwing games. I want players gone if they start throwing games. I'm talking about the organization. Just give the younger guys big minutes. Make Chandler the go to guy. Make fried Gallinari the 6th man. Make Nate the starting PG and see how that works. Give Duhon rest, along with Al and David Lee. See what the new Big man can do and lets give Wilcox some starter minutes and see where he belongs. Heck, sign PEJ and put him in the rotation. At least it will be a fun tanking if we get him in there.

Again, I don't mean the players throwing in the towell. I am completely against that in any situation.

play the youth & let the chips fall where they may... no one expects these players to purposely throw games, but the coach can determine the rotations w/the mindset that the playoffs are no longer a priority over assessing our young players & letting them gain as much experience as possible... we have nothing to gain by winning a few extra games & still missing out on the playoffs.

Lets hope D'Antoni realizes its the right thing to do to play Gallo, Chandler and Samb, get them as much minutes as possible. Its not going to do the Knicks any good to try this playoff push its ridiculous to go that route. It is only going to hurt the Knicks rather than help.

if i were MDA i'd get Curry back into the rotation asap, & work both Gallo & Chandler into the starting rotation & focus on getting a full assessment of those 3 guys w/the remaining games left on the roster... i don't care how badly out of shape Curry is, i'd just let him play himself into shape on the court... getting him back to some semblence of productivity is way more important to our longterm future than winning a few meaningless games in a playoff race we're pretty much out of at this point... if Curry can show teams he can still play we might be able to dump his contract in the offseason, or at least get some discussions started that we can explore at the deadline next season... getting his contract off our books & getting our young guys burn should be the #1 focus right now above all else.

You couldn't get Curry on the court if you paid him.

literally it seems...

We are paying. We should put out a buffet on the sideline and then maybe he will show up.

So this approach I can agree with, if the goal increased PT for the new kids that's great. If the goal is intentionlly losing for lottery pick count me out.

At some point, we have to be able to void his contract. There has to be something in his contract about being in some kind of shape to be able to play, even if its meaningless minutes.

Maybe there's not a point in his contract that says that he has to be in shape, but I think all of the contracts say something about being detrimental to the team, and Curry sure is doing that.

They aren't going to void it though, b/c they sure as in hell didn't do that with Marbury, and he didn't have an agent!!!

They didnt do it with Big Snacks either and he pretty much didnt step foot on the court once he signed with the Knicks - or he played so little it doesnt count. I think the NBA needs to take a look at these guaranteed contracts and make some changes, it is hurting the league.

Ah two threads on the same thing, very clever. But me being the smart guy that I am, I will post the same comment on both threads, HA!!
=========================================================================================
Guys, tanking sucks. The idea of improving our odds for landing a high draft pick by tanking is preposterous. Improved odds are just that they are improved odds, they are not a gurantee. We could lose every game from here on and end up with the 21st pick or something. Put no faith in ping pong balls. Yes some teams in the past may have used trhis "strategy" to obtain high draft picks, but they just got lucky. For every team that succeeds you would find many that didn't. Even with a high pick a draft is no gurantee of getting a bona fide superstar. This type of reasonig "lets tank to improve" is dangerous and the players who execute this can consequently never win anything even when they get their superstar. There are enough natural born losers in the NBA (aka Marbury clones)so there is absolutely no need to teach young players how to lose for improved draft prospects.
Yes I have read all the reasoning of "resting the vets" and playing younger players etc, but when your goal is to rack up losses which it has to be to improve your odds, that goal will translate to our players learning how to do what is easy instead of playing hard for wins. Dont want it, will not advocate for it. Tanking is STUPID.
