problem is that d'antoni and his staff aren't really known to develop projects...

the knick roster he took over at the beginning of the year is the greatest project undertaken in the history of the NBA. He's turned pure garbage into something halfway decent.

Thus far were better by 1 game....Whew hoo pop champange,..Give me a break I hold no judgement til sason ending. Nobody's been counting, but im sure the line up changings are getting up there with LARRY BROWN.

They should pick up Luther Head--he was released. He plays good perimeter D and is a good 3 point shooter. They could use the extra G.

considering wilcox got 9 mins the other night, i don't see how d'antoni would be interested in giving samb minutes to develop. briggs is right, they should pick up luther head b/c he's played in this league and he can shoot.

I can see Samb getting minutes. He looks like he can protect the paint.

Herb Don't Count

The Walsh sole focus should be another 6'11+ for Samb to practice against

Practice fodder.

Also allows us to maintain the league mandated 13 man roster.

Whooptie-damn-doo. He's crap. Let him get dunked on in practice. Good enough.

I wish they would get a real big man coach. I mean last few years they had Mark Agguire coaching Curry. This year they don't have a big man so there is no coaching going on there. Is it really that hard to get a big man coach in NY. Patrick Ewing would have been nice. Can they call Hakeem and get him to work with Curry or whoever.

VMart - the Knicks have Herb.

Fuggedaboutacoach. Samb NEEDS someone his height, with NBA-calibre moves, to learn from and practice ("we talkin' bour practice..") against.

I'd settle for Felton Spencer at this point

Wilcox can't even get off the bench. I don't see this kid getting playing outside of practice.

Yeah Herb, That's what is befuddling to me. Why the hell was Agguire coaching Curry when they had Herb. I hate to say it but players respond to other superstars. Bring Moses Malone in here teaching the Centers. I bet Curry and Samb could learn a lot more from a guy like Moses. Hell D Lee could learn a little more about about using his body for defense and might help him rip more rebounds down.

Bynum has his Jabbar, Dwight and Yoa had Ewing and I think Hakeem worked with Yoa too. Hakeem had Moses who worked with him when Hakeem was in Houston he worked with him in college too. Pat Ewing had Thompson who learned from Russell, I wouldn't be shocked if Russell showed up to GTown and worked with Ewing. Shaq was tutored by Jabbar and Walton. If you want a center to be great then you have to get them tutelage. I'm Shocked that Curry hasn't gotten that kind of learning experence. He hasn't seen how hard you have to work to be great. Curry never learned work ethic that is his down fall.

Even if the Knicks get Thabeet you think they will get them a big man to work with him I highly doubt it.

Wilcox doesn't BLOCK SHOTS!!!! You can't compare Samb to Wilcox in terms of whether he'd see PT. Samb will need time to learn the sets, but his shot blocking is the key to his minutes. If he's out there it's for his D and not his O. Wilcox is pretty much the same deal, but he's a Lee clone, in that he lacks a bigtime offensive game outside of Pick n roll layups and dunks. Samb is pretty much only coming in to give us intimidation in the paint. The one glaring weakness we have. Wilcox isn't able to give us anything more than what we already have in Lee. Samb does. So there's a chance Samb could get some minutes here at the end of halfs and the 4th qtr, if we have a lead.

Samb sounds like a block monster. I haven't seen him play but here is his Wikipedia write up.

[edit] Basketball career
Samb was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round (51st pick overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, but was traded that day to the Detroit Pistons for shooting guard Maurice Evans.

In the 2005-06 season, he played for WTC Cornellá in the Spanish second division, averaging 9.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks,[1] shooting 51.4% from the field and 76.1% from the free-throw line, playing an average of 26 minutes per game in 29 games. He led the league in blocked shots, registering more blocks than the totals of all but one team in the league.

After being drafted, Samb played for the Pistons in the NBA Summer League, averaging 7.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, while shooting 65.2% from the field and 60.0% from the free-throw line. He would be loaned back to the same Spanish outfit for 2006–07.

In his second season with Cornellá, he averaged 10.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks, while shooting 52% from the field, and 61% from the free-throw line, playing 24 minutes per game in only 19 games, in an injury-plagued season. Joining the Pistons for another Summer League, Samb posted slightly better numbers than in the previous edition, starting in four and playing in all five games. Subsequently, he signed a contract with the Pistons on July 17, 2007.[1]

On November 16, 2007, Samb played his first NBA regular season game[2]: against the Los Angeles Lakers, he had 4 rebounds, 2 points and 2 blocks in just 15 minutes, before being allocated to the NBA Development League, with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

On December 14, in his second D-League game, against the Dakota Wizards, Samb took an elbow to his mouth and lost two front teeth.[3] The teeth, knocked out at the root, were subsequently put in a saline solution and he was taken to a dentist to have them reset.[3] He also suffered a probable upper jawbone fracture.[3]

Samb was recalled to the NBA on December 21[2], switching to the Mad Ants again on January 29, 2008.[4] On February 3, he recorded a triple double with the Ants, with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks.[5] On March 22, he was once again recalled to the Pistons.

On November 3, 2008, Samb was traded along with Antonio McDyess and Chauncey Billups to the Denver Nuggets, in exchange for Allen Iverson.[6] Samb (along with Sonny Weems) was later assigned to the Colorado 14ers, a team associated with the Nuggets in the NBA Development League.[7] On January 5, 2009, the Nuggets traded Samb, along with cash considerations, to the Los Angeles Clippers for a conditional second-round draft pick.

On February 16, 2009, Samb was waived by the Clippers.[9]

On March 2, 2009, Samb signed a 10 day contract with the Knicks.[10]

[edit] Personal
Samb's younger brother, Mamadou, was the consensus top international prospect born in 1989,[11] and also played for Cornellá.

Practice Podnuh

Samb Cheikh Tidiane, born October 22, 1984 in Dakar, Senegal

Mouhamed Saer Sene, born May 12, 1986, in Thies,Senegal

Sene was drafted 10th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2006 NBA Draft. He is noted to have great shot-blocking potential because of his 7 ft 8½ in (2.35 m) wingspan. On January 11, 2007, the Seattle SuperSonics assigned Sene to the NBA Development League's Idaho Stampede.

In the 2007–08 season, Sene received an honorable mention for the All-NBA Development League teams. He played 28 games for the Idaho Stampede, starting in five. He averaged 12.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 28.2 minutes per game, with highs of 30 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks.

On February 19, 2009 Sene was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

I can't believe Herb is still collecting a check from this organization. It's insane, the man survived 3 regime changes, 6 head coach changes including himself, countless assistant coaches turnovers, two 23 win seasons, a bunch of 30 win seasons and failures in big men projects. There must be something more to the man than what he has shown publicly. Herb's recession proof.

I meant time for him to have any chance of being able to grasp the offensive sets and not get in the way. Of course defensively his role is simple.

Just put him out there with Harington, Lee, Chandler and Nate and tell him to collect rebounds and block/alter shots. Thats all they need form Samb. Tell him your Ben Wallace set picks/block shots and don't let you man score. Keep an open eyte out on the weak side. Whats there to basketball.

LOL. How does that even happen?? Dolan must have a man crush on Herb. I am not too mad about it though because Herb is a class guy.
