The reasons Wilcox got limited minutes is because he is a banger. The problem with him being a banger is when you are looking to bang against Dwight, more times than not you're gonna lose. He has no outside shot so what good was he gonna be?
Now the reason JJ was in the game was because he is longer than Wilcox. He can play faster players as well. He wasn't in the game to guard Dwight for the most part. In the 4th quarter, Harrington was playing Dwight. It was the only way we could get Dwight to come out from under the basket. You can't sit under the basket if your man is raining threes. That also opened up the lanes for Nate to penetrate also.
It worked quite well but we just couldn't get the stops we needed and we couldn't make the big shots either.
i dunno about u but allowing Dwight Howard a 20 / 20 game is not what i'd call doing a good job on him on D.

Dwight was gonna get his regardless. We have no one on our roster that could out muscle Dwight on a consistent basis. You know this don't you? Now back to you comment. The question was about Wilcox's absence last night and not if any move we made last night was gonna slow down Dwight.
What did help us and made the game competitive was our decision to attack Dwight's weakness which is his unwillingness to guard on the perimeter. See TMS, Dwight was gonna do his thing on the offensive side of the ball but we made moves to reduce what he was doing to us on the defensive side. This strategy is what brought us so close to a great upset. Now I will step back into the shadows so that you can talk about what we didn't do against Dwight.
Martice, i dunno what game u think u'r watching but Jared Jefferies is 1 of the worst players in the NBA... don't try & tell me Wilcox can't guard Dwight but somehow Jefferies can... the guy's as skinny as a toothpick & got outmuscled down low all game long... how can u play 17 minutes & not even grab a stinkin' rebound? at least 1 or 2 should fall directly into your hands out of default from being almost 7 feet tall, no?
no kidding Dwight was gonna get his but at least make some kind of an impact by doing SOMETHING if you're gonna be on the floor... put up a point, a single stinkin' rebound or assist... anything... how can one can be so invisible after playing 17 minutes is completely mind boggling.
That's funny TMS. I was thinking what game you were watching. Regardless, the fact that JJ can rotate to smaller quicker players better than Wilcox makes him more valuable than Wilcox in a game like last night. See, since Wilcox and JJ were gonna yield the same results guarding Dwight, the advantage we gain using JJ is that we could move him around on multiple players. Plus he is a greater scoring threat than Wilcox because he has a slightly better jumper than Wilcox. We could run him out on shooters because of his length etc..
If you noticed while watching the game, Harrington guarded Dwight and so did Dani but where we got our revenge was on offense. Say what you want but until David left the game and joined Wilcox on the bench, we couldn't close the gap. This is not an indictment on Lee's overall game. In fact, this was just a game where what he brings to the game was negated by Dwight on both sides of the ball. Just like Wilcox.
