by the way... the title of the thread:

How many games does this team win next year?

Anyone?

That team would be like Isles post count- unable to get over the hump, teetering on the brink of joining an elite crowd, yet one short of being legit contenders.

That isn't a bad line up, and I thought you were going with how many games does this same unit win next year after being together.

And we've fallen into this trap before.

I think it was Kelly Tripucka who said he felt this team let about 5 wins get away- which makes us a 500 squad.

A better strategy may be what Hahn suggested in his blog, and that is considering moving players at the 2009/10 deadline for a star, something like a David Lee & Larry Hughes for Bosh, or maybe even during this off season.

Fishmike---nope

I don't want other people's health problems--i.e Bogut Peja etc..

I like the team and I want to enhance the team. I believe in getting our cap in line but I do not agree with an all out assault trying to get under the cap for 2010

Simple math--all I want to add this summer is an opportunistic MLE contract--no no Jared Jefferies talents---rather when I did the math--simply there are too many players and not enough money--there will be MORE than 1 player taking LESS next year.

The one I identified--Lamar odom makes darn good sense of a signing for this team for that price. I don't want to stop operations because I think I may get to 2010 and then start to pray.
I think you play to win.

I don't want to lose any of Lee Nate or Harrington. Why? Because even if we wait for 2011[Dwight Howard] we need a really good core in place. The way they are doing it for 2010--they will strip the team too much and if we don't get Lebron--then the whole thing blows up in our face.

I said the Hughes trade may be bad--first returns----Tim thomas is helping the Bulls win and LH looks like the same ball hog he has been every where he goes. Problem is TT went to a direct competitor for the final spot---oh well the Bulls have been btch -slapping us for the last 5 years--another couple of slaps wont penetrate the numbness already levied.

I can say please let us do what we can to draft BJ Mullens---look at the kid--he's going to lead the NBA in FG% one day scoring 20 points doing so--I can sit here and say it 500 times but if the Knicks had any chance to get him--they would not.. The facts are the Knicks have not made a good high pick in 25 years. They don't get it--they probably don't know or care who Mullens is--they cant see what he WILL BE but rather what he is not at this moment. It's not terrible to settle for an athletic guard but bly me I want that big kid. But I'm not going to waste my breath--the Knicks are too stupid to listen and they will do what they want.

Am I asking too much for attempting to sign our own players--using the MLE on Lamar Odom and drafting Mullens for our future? Is it that unrealistic of a plan--we dont hurt our future at all--we have cap space galore from 2011 on when we choose to use it wisely.

No stay away from the Peja's and trading max contracts--that is a terrible business plan. But don't go overboard with 2010 either.

Wade's exact words: "who knows what the future holds but NY isnt for me."

Hey... I LOVE the idea of going after Lebron or Amare or whoever. I HATE the idea of trading down or letting good players who are home grown KNicks like Lee and Nate walk for the sake of cap space.

If DW can bring these guys back and dump JJ and Curry then great.
You yourself have pointed out that that won't be necessary. Keep Nate and Lee and just sign one max contract FA in 2010. If we wanted to go the starphuck route, we should have just kept Isiah.

I'd say that team consistently wins 38-42 games

Who cares about next year?? What is real is today. Next year we will give away D Lee and Nate and the dream pie in the sky for Lebron James (which will never happen) and we will continue to be a 20 plus game winner.
We should have gotten something back for Marbs and we didn't. He came into camp in the best shape of his career and we were all about gettin even. All we had to do was build him up and make him look good then trade him and get something back but when we get angry we lose our business since. Now all we talk about is trading D Lee and Nate for a pie in the sky that will never never happen. But it's good for conversation on the blog. I'm willing to bet $1,000.00 to anyone on this sight that we don't get Lebron James in 2010. Do I have any takers??? It would be the best $1,000.00 that I would lose if we get him.

i'd say 45 or so... not gonna be good enough to win titles tho... i dunno why u wanna go w/a team like this fish, no offense... shouldn't we be focused on putting together a championship calibre team instead of mediocre ones like we had immediately after Ewing left?
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I agree. This is starphucking at its worst.

Let's just play out to 2010 and see what happens.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
